Papier - und Kartonverpackungen mit rundem Querschnitt üblicher Bauart sind meist aus gewickeltem Material hergestellt. Deckel und Böden sind meist aus Kunststoff hergestellte Kappen, die dann zudem angeheftet werden müssen. Da eine Bedruckung aus herstellungstechnologischen Gründen nur sehr schwer oder fast nicht möglich ist, werden diese Verpackungen meist unbedruckt als reine Schutzverpackung verwendet. Auch deshalb eignet sich diese Form der Verpackung nicht sehr gut für die Verpackung von Nahrungsmitteln oder ( kleineren ) Konsumgütern. Weiterhin sind diese Verpackungen nicht zusammenlegbar, so daß bei einem Transport das ganze ( luftgefüllte ) Volumen bewegt werden muß. Als Faltschachtelverpackung mit nicht viereckigem Querschnitt werden derzeit drei - oder sechseckige Prismen verwendet ( Faltschachteltypen F 213,F 218 *). Diese sind zusammenlegbar, eignen sich für runde Füllgüter aber nur insofern, als daß aufgrund der Geometrie zwischen dem Produkt und der Verpackung viel ungenutzter Zwischenraum bleibt.Paper and cardboard packaging with a round cross-section of the usual design is usually made of wound material.
