In den Bedienungsanleitungen und Anschlußvorschriften zu elektrischen Geräten der Schutzklasse 1 wird ausdrücklich gefordert, vor dem Anschluß des jeweiligen Gerätes zu prüfen, ob der Schutzleiter des Steckdosennetzes funktionstüchtig ist. Die Betreiber von elektrischen Haushaltsgeräten oder dergleichen, verfügen jedoch selten über die erforderlichen Kenntnisse und technischen Mittel, die zum ordnungsgemäßen Prüfen der Funktionstüchtigkeit eines Schutzleiters notwendig sind. Andererseits weisen bekannte Prüfvorrichtungen sehr aufwendige elektronische Schaltungen auf und erfordern eine gewisse Fachkenntnis, so daß sie für den Gebrauch durch Nichtfachleute ungeeignet sind.The operating instructions and connection regulations for electrical devices in protection class 1 expressly require that you check whether the protective conductor of the socket is functioning properly before connecting the device.
