Description

One of the biggest problems in anesthesia is intubation and most anesthesiologists, especially at the beginning of their training, would like to make intubation easier.

For this reason, endoscopes are used, for example, in difficult intubations, but their use is limited due to their high price.

During normal anesthesia induction according to the current state of the art, the laryngoscope spatula lifts the epiglottis when the laryngoscope handle is pulled accordingly and the glottis becomes visible so that an endotracheal tube can be placed.

In so-called difficult intubations, the glottis is often not visible, and possibly even the trachea, so that intubation must be performed "blindly".

So-called crash intubations will not receive any major attention here.

The essence of the invention is to facilitate intubation or even make it possible in the first place by means of modified spatulas.

The spatulas are each equipped with a spring-loaded, telescopic and/or movable and guided mirror, which is preferably vertically rotatable and lockable, and which in the normal position is arranged at a 45-degree angle with its mirror surface facing downwards.

This means that the epiglottis is always visible and the glottis can be adjusted if necessary with a spatula of a different size or shape.

It goes without saying that it is not uncommon to have to use a stylet.

The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to claims 1-4 and Figure 1.

Figure 1 shows a laryngoscope (13) with a spatula (1) which has a guide (4) on its upper edge (5) for the telescopically (8) spring-loaded (11) mirror (2) with a locking mechanism (7). The mirror (2) preferably has a separate light (6). The power supply (15) is housed in the handle (16).

The use of the laryngoscope corresponds to the conventional procedure, but the mirror (2) always allows a view of the glottis and the process of
intubation.

It should be noted that the mirror surface is preferably protected against possible fogging
heatable or provided with an anti-fog coating or a corresponding glass (9).

The fact that the spatulas (1) and ultimately the laryngoscope (13) are sterilizable is
of course.

An alternative for laryngoscopes in use are spatula attachments,
which are adaptable to the spatulas and suitable for the same procedures, as explained in more detail in claim 5.

Claims (5)

-1- CLAIMS 1. Laryngoscope, characterized in that each laryngoscope spatula (1) is suitable for receiving a spring-loaded (11) mirror (2) which rests against the posterior wall of the throat with a measured amount of force and is suitable for giving the user the possibility of recognizing the epiglottis and the glottis during an intubation or the like. 2. Laryngoscope, characterized in that the mirror (2) is guided in a rotationally stable manner and its guide (4) at the upper edge (5) of the laryngoscope blade (1) and preferably adjustable (8) with optimized, preferred spring force against the posterior pharyngeal wall. 3. Laryngoscope, characterized in that the mirror (2) is preferably arranged in a 45-degree arrangement with a view downwards, preferably has its own lighting (6) and can be heated (12) if necessary to prevent fogging, is provided with a special glass (9) or an anti-fog coating (10). 4. Laryngoscope, characterized in that the mirror (2) itself can preferably be pivoted and locked in the vertical position (7). 5. Laryngoscope, characterized in that conventional spatulas can be retrofitted in such a way that a device can be attached to their upper side, which completely or partially follows the course of the spatula, e.g. made of plastic, preferably snapped on via an undercut or the like, or pushed on in at least one guide or the like and has the mirror attachment (2,4,11,8,7,9,10,...) in the same or similar form, whereby a separate power supply, e.g. in the form of a battery, is required for mirror heating (12) and/or a separate light source (6).
