Description
The invention relates to a shock absorber for reducing the arresting forces when a person falls from a ladder, a climbing path, a platform or the like. The shock absorber has two interwoven straps. The interweaving extends almost over the entire length with the exception of short free ends of the straps. The free end of one strap is primarily attached to the safety harness of the person to be secured using a snap hook and the free end of the other strap is primarily attached to an anchor point. The other ends of the interwoven straps are closed with a bar tack. In the area ending with the bar tack of the straps, the straps are connected by interweaving. In the event of a fall, the straps are torn apart starting from the free ends and progressing towards the bar tack, which reduces the arresting forces of the fall.

5Such band energy absorbers are well known. In these cases, the impact shock starts abruptly when the area of interweaving begins to tear apart, whereby the initial forces in particular are very high and can exceed 6 kN. 5
The invention is based on the task of reducing the forces occurring at the beginning of the impact and of linearizing the force progression, i.e. distributing the impact forces as evenly as possible over the braking distance and always keeping them below a predetermined impact force.
According to the invention, this problem is solved in that the width of the area in which the two straps are connected by interweaving tapers towards the beginning.
Because the width of the interwoven area is initially very small and only gradually increases to the full width of the webbing, e.g. at an angle of around 20°, the force required to tear apart the interwoven area of the webbing is initially small and only gradually increases to the full tear-off force. The arresting force also increases accordingly from zero to the full value. This reduces the risk of injury to the person being secured.
The process of weaving the straps together, which can then later be torn apart with a defined force, is well known and will therefore not be described in more detail here.
Preferably, the beginning of the interweaving area has a V shape, with the V tip pointing towards the bar tack of the webbing or vice versa. The interweaving preferably begins at the edges of the webbing and then expands to the entire width of the webbing within a certain length or vice versa. This achieves a relatively flat increase in the arresting force.
Es zeigen:An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing.

Fig. 3 to 5 show in plan view different shapes for the beginning of the interweaving area.
According to Fig. 1, the band shock absorber has two belt straps 1, . One end 3, 4 of the belt straps 1, 2 is free and the other end is locked or connected with a bar tack 6. The free end 3 of the first belt strap 1 can be attached to the chest or lap belt of the person to be secured. For this purpose, a snap hook is generally provided on this end 3, which is hooked into an eyelet of the abdominal or chest belt. The free end 4 of the second belt strap 2 can also be attached to an anchor point with a snap hook or extended with a connecting element.
The two straps 1, 2 are connected by interweaving within an area 5 that covers most of their length, e.g. about 50 cm, and extends to the bar tack seam 6. When interweaving, short fiber bundles are woven into both straps 1, 2. When the shock absorber is torn apart, the ends of the fiber bundles are then pulled out of the straps 1, 2.
Entspre-The beginning of the area 5 is V-shaped according to Fig. 3, with a wedge-shaped area 7 extending into the area 5, which is slightly longer than the width of the straps 1, 2 and in which the straps 1, 2 are not yet connected. The width of the interweaving therefore increases at the beginning of the area 5 in the direction of the arrow 8. Accordingly,
The force required to tear the straps 1, 2 apart also increases accordingly.
The beginning of the area 5 can also be U-shaped according to Fig. 4 or according to Fig. 5, whereby the two belt straps 1, 2 are initially only woven together along their edges and then the width of the interweaving expands in a short V-shaped piece to the full width of the belt straps 1, 2. Furthermore, this arrangement can also be carried out the other way round.
In addition, the beginning of the area 5 can also - in reverse to Fig. 3 - taper to a point or run diagonally across the width of the straps 1, 2.
Claims (3)
- daß sich die Breite des Bereichs (5), in dem die beiden Gurtbänder (1,2) durch Ineinanderweben verbunden sind, zu den freien Enden (3, 4) hin verringert.(5) of the interweaving progressively in the direction (8) towards the connected ends (6), characterized in that
- that the width of the area (5) in which the two straps (1,2) are connected by interweaving decreases towards the free ends (3, 4).
