Description
The invention relates to and relates to pneumatic tires in particular with an improved tread for tires. It is known in the tire industry that one When choosing a particular tread, different properties must be taken into account in order to achieve good overall performance of the tire. Of these properties are wear, comfort, noise, the handling characteristics under different road conditions, the fuel consumption and the like. Mentioned. These properties can often be found in the case of a particular Do not reduce the tread design to a common denominator. For example, it is in the case of a tread generally difficult with good wet traction or good snow traction, good dry traction as well as satisfactory To achieve handling properties and -only a low wear of the running surface and / or noise development to accept. A tread with little wear will generally appear Receive costs of wet traction, driving behavior, snow traction and / or comfort. A tread, low fuel consumption is generally at the expense of abrasion and / or traction obtain. As a result of the complicated interaction of these Properties, it is difficult to obtain a tread that provides both good wet and snow traction and at the same time only wears out to a small extent, has good dry traction, good handling properties and only a low noise level.
Die Erfindung beruht auf der Erkenntnis, daß durch eine bestimmte Anordnung eine gute Naßtraktion erzielt werden kann, wobei darüber hinaus nur eine geringe Abnutzung der Lauffläche in Kauf zu nehmen ist, eine gute Trockentraktion sowie hervorragende Handhabungseigenschaften erzielt werdenThe invention is based on the knowledge that good wet traction can be achieved by a specific arrangement can, with only a small amount of wear and tear on the running surface, a good dry traction and excellent handling properties can be achieved

A tire according to the invention is provided with a plurality of independently spaced studs or bumps extending around the circumference of the tire. The tread has three relative narrow zones with respect to the width of the tread extending around the circumference of the tire. The depth of the recesses between the tunnels or elevations in the zones is less than the depth of the recesses in the remaining sections of the tread.
Es zeigen:The invention is explained in more detail by means of the accompanying drawings. Show it:
Fig. 1 eine fragmentarische Draufsicht auf eine Lauffläche eines Reifens, der erfindungsgemäß hergestellt worden ist;Figure 1 is a fragmentary plan view of a tread of a tire made in accordance with the present invention has been;
Fig. 2 eine Querschnittsansicht einer Lauffläche, die erfindungsgemäß hergestellt worden ist, längs der Linie 2-2 von Fig. 1.Figure 2 is a longitudinal cross-sectional view of a tread made in accordance with the present invention the line 2-2 of FIG. 1.
It should be noted that the tread is in extends around the entire tire in the manner shown. The tread 12 has a plurality of independently of one another provided studs or elevations 14 on. For the purposes of the invention are independent of one another provided elevations those elevations that have a length that is significantly less than the length of the Imprint under the inflation pressures intended for the tire and under a certain load. Preferably the length is less than 50%. In the embodiment shown, the elevations 14 have an external configuration, which is triangular in principle if you look at these bumps in a plane perpendicular to the

Running surface. However, any other configuration can also be used. To achieve good In wet traction, sufficient void space should be provided in the tread so that water can get into these void areas and does not generate hydrostatic pressure that creates a lifting force against the tire. The use of elevations provided independently of one another at a distance, as well as compliance with a low one The net: gross ratio in the tread allows the water to escape freely from the tire's imprint. For the purposes of the invention, the tire's footprint is that part of the tread that is in contact with the road surface.
Unter diesem Verhältnis ist die Netto-Kon-The use of surveys provided independently of one another and compliance with a low net: gross ratio in the tread of a tire generally deteriorates handling and dry traction and increases the noise level. To eliminate these disadvantages, the tread 12 is provided with three around the circumference provided around extending zones in which the recesses between the elevations 14 are much smaller than the recesses between the elevations 14 in the remaining portion of the tread 12. The tread 12 is provided with a central zone C and two shoulder zones A and B, wherein the depth of the recesses between the elevations 14 is less than the depth of the recesses in the remaining sections D and E of the tread 12. The full depth recesses provide the required vacant area between the elevations provided independently of one another for good wet traction, while the recess sections with reduced depth A and B for the stiffening between the elevations to achieve low wear and tear, good handling properties and low noise levels are required is. Furthermore, the running surface 12 has a low net: gross ratio. Under this ratio, the net con-

Die Lauffläche 12 sollte ein Netto:Brutto-Verhältnis von weniger als 65% und vorzugsweise ein Verhältnis zwischen 65 % und 50 % aufweisen.to understand the contact area of the tread with the road as a percentage of the total contact area. The tread 12 should have a net: gross ratio of less than 65% and preferably a ratio between 65% and 50% exhibit.
Ferner bedingt die erhöhte Steifigkeit in diesen Zonen, daß die Lauffläche 12 positiver auf leichte geradeaus führende Steuerungskorrekturen anspricht, die in der einschlägigen Industrie als "on center feel" bezeichnet werden,, ferner sind übertriebenere HandhabungsmanöverThe full depth recesses are in the portion of the tread where the unit pressure is lower is than on the adjacent surface, so that the water can flow into these treads and not a hydrostatic one Pressure is generated which causes a lifting force against the running surface 12. Hence the recesses with reduced depth in the part of the tread 12 between the projections where the unit pressure is high. The one on a tire in the footprint of the same The unit pressure generated varies axially across the running surface 12. This variation is in the case of passenger car tires more pronounced. The unit pressure is greatest at the lateral edges of the tread and increases to a lower pressure which lies approximately between the tread edge and the central circumferential plane CP of the tire and then gradually increases to a higher unit pressure in the central area of the tread, the highest Unit prints occur on the side margins. A graph of the unit pressure viewed in a radial cross-sectional plane, gives the shape of a "W", with the peaks on the shoulder surfaces as well as on the central Surface of the tread occur. The recesses with reduced depth in zones A, B and C serve as one Support the surveys 14 as well as to reduce a Deformation and torsion, which cause undesirable wear on the tread and the development of tread noise in these zones. Furthermore, the increased rigidity in these zones means that the tread 12 is more positive responds to slight straightforward control corrections, which are referred to in the relevant industry as "on center feel" are, furthermore, are more exaggerated handling maneuvers

The recesses with reduced depth also serve to reduce the noise in the central Section of the tread is created »
The central zone C is located approximately in the central portion of the tread 12 and extends around the the entire circumference of the tire. Preferably, the central zone C is provided in such a way that the axial edges are equidistant from the center circumferential plane CP of the tire. The width of the central zone A can be may vary from 5 to 20% of the width W of the tread 12 and is preferably 15%. For the invention Purposes, the width W of the tread is defined as the axial distance between the edges of the tread, and determined on the basis of the imprint of the tire, which is mounted on a rim and with its intended use Load is burdened. The depth F of the recesses 20 in the central zone C varies between 25 and 60% of the Depth G of the recesses 22 in zones D and E and is preferably approximately 35%.
The shoulder zones extend axially inward from the tread edges towards the median circumferential plane CP of the tire and run around the circumference of the tire. The width of each shoulder zone is approximately 10 up to 20% of the tread width W, preferably 15%. The depth I of the recesses 24 in zones A and B corresponds approximately 25 to 60% of the depth of the recesses 22 in zones D and E and is preferably 40%.
The total width of the three zones A, B and C exceeds preferably not 60% of the width W of the tread 12 "
The bottom of the recesses with reduced depth 20 and in the zones A, B and C can also be provided with a lamination 26 to ensure acceptable traction when the surface the elevations 14 extend to the bottom part of the recesses in these Zones wears out.
