Zusatz zum Patent 252195.Addition to patent 252195.
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 8. Oktober 1913 ab. Längste Dauer: 22. Juli 1925.Patented in the German Empire on October 8, 1913. Longest duration: July 22, 1925.
In the practical implementation of the method according to patent 252195 it has been shown that that the expulsion of volatile metals from the mixture of ore and fuel the more complete the process, the lower the excess of air in the reaction space incoming hot gases. The reason for this is to be found in the fact that when there is a large excess of air in the Heating gases from the fuel added to the goods, namely towards the entry point too much of the heating gases is burned, so that ultimately there is no longer enough reducing material is present to drive out the volatile metals. If now the loading is due to the high flame temperature is brought to melt, it shows that a not inconsiderable part z. B. of the zinc is retained by the resulting slag, because the reduced zinc vapors as soon as they come into contact with the strongly oxidizing gases, they are immediately oxidized again, and the zinc oxide becomes, before it has left the batch, dissolved from the molten mass.
These inconveniences can be avoided if, as already mentioned, the heating flame is used gives a reducing quality and at the same time regulates the temperature in the oven so that that only sintering of the goods occurs, but not melting. It should be noted here that the reduction of tin ores without smelting is known; however, the avoidance of melting has another here Purpose.
As practical experience has shown, the carbon dioxide contained in the heating gases is sufficient perfect to bring about the oxidation of zinc vapors, so that a Excess air is unnecessary. If necessary, air can also be supplied to the withdrawing parts Steam and gases subsequently complete the oxidation of the zinc, etc. Under these circumstances, this oxidation takes place more slowly or later and does not at the first appearance of the zinc vapor. As the metallic zinc from slagged Constituents of the feed is not dissolved, a more complete expulsion of the zinc content of the will under such circumstances Charging achieved, which is still promoted by avoiding melting. What What is said of zinc is of course also true of other volatile metals.
Da in vielen Fällen eine möglichst hohe Temperatur erwünscht ist, um einen lebhaften Reduktionsvorgang herbeizuführen, so kann man die Schmelzung auch durch entsprechendeSince in many cases the highest possible temperature is desirable in order to keep a lively To bring about reduction process, one can also melt by appropriate
Prevent charging or by means of aggregates and, if necessary, only bring about sintering. Has one ζ B. with an ore to If, due to its composition, it forms easily volatile silicates, then one is charged it with ores or aggregates, the composition of which in the mixture on an increase the melting temperature acts.
