Verfahren zur Darstellung von oxindol-p-sulfosaurem Natrium.Process for the preparation of oxindole-p-sulfonic acid sodium.
Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 15. Oktober 1913 ab.Patented in the German Empire on October 15, 1913.
According to Oechsner de Coninck and Raynaud (Chem. Centralblatt 1903, I, P. 1079) the phenylacetic acid is decomposed by heating with concentrated sulfuric acid. In contrast to this information, it was found that sulphurizing due to the action Agent under suitable conditions phenylacetic acid can be easily sulfated. The predominant amount of p-sulfophenylacetic acid is formed when phenylacetic acid is dissolved and in a smaller amount the o-sulfophenylacetic acid.
If these new sulfonic acids are treated with nitrating agents, one obtains from the p-sulfophenylacetic acid o-nitro-p-sulfophenylacetic acid, while the o-sulfophenylacetic acid gives rise to p-nitro-o-sulfophenylacetic acid forms.
Auch dieses Ergebnis konnte nicht voraus-This result could not be predicted either.
Aufl., Bd. II, S. 1369).ao to be seen. First there had to be one negative group had entered the molecule of phenylacetic acid, with an increased Decomposition of the compound can be expected. Furthermore, the position in which the nitro group would enter when nitrating p-sulfophenylacetic acid, not predict, because from the p-bromophenylpropionic acid z. B. is formed by sulfating the m - sulfo - ρ - bromophenylpropionic acid (Beilstein, 3rd ed., Vol. II, p. 1369).
The new nitrosulfophenylacetic acids can be reduced in their reduction in previously unknown Aminosulfophenylacetic acids or into an oxindole-p-sulfonic acid convict.
Aufl., Bd. II, S. 1305 und 1307). Auch-der in Vergleich zu ziehende Mechanismus der Acidylierung der Aminogruppe zeigt die Wirkung negativer Gruppen in ähnlicher Weise (vgl. die Unmöglichkeit der Acetylierung von symmetrischem Trinitranilin beim Kochen mit Essigsäureanhydrid, O. N. Witt, Ber. 41, [1908], S. 3092).Although it is known that o-nitrophenylacetic acid by reducing agents with simultaneous Ring closure can be reduced to oxindole. Meanwhile, the representation is an oxindole derivative with a negative group has not been described in the benzene nucleus. The influence of negative groups in the five-membered ring is a very notable one (compare 4-nitro-2-sulfamidobenzoic acid and 4-amino-2-sulfamidobenzoic acid, Beilstein, 3rd ed., Vol. II, pp. 1305 and 1307). Also in comparison The mechanism of acidylation of the amino group to be drawn shows the effect of negative groups in a similar way (cf. the impossibility of acetylation of symmetrical trinitraniline when cooking with Acetic anhydride, O. N. Witt, Ber. 41, [1908], p. 3092).
Statt das Gemenge der Sulfosäuren zu nitrieren, kann man auch die Sulfosäuren durch Überführung in ihre sauren oder neutralen Natriumsalze trennen und diese 70 * getrennt der Einwirkung von nitrierenden Mitteln unterwerfen.13.6 kg of phenylacetic acid are dissolved in 70 kg of sulfuric acid by 66 ° Be, and heated for 1 hour at 80 to 95 0 C. In this Sulfierungsmasse allowed (containing 6.3 kg Ή NO 3) run in slowly at a temperature of 10 to 15 0 C 20 kg nitrating acid. To separate the nitro bodies, the nitrating mass diluted with water and ice is mixed with common salt. The acidic sodium salts of the nitrosulfophenylacetic acids which precipitate are filtered off with suction and freed from adhering acid by washing out with common salt water. Instead of nitrating the mixture of sulphonic acids, one can separate the sulphonic acids by converting them into their acidic or neutral sodium salts and subject them separately to the action of nitrating agents.

The separation of the neutral salts succeeds by treating them with o, o per cent Ethyl alcohol. In boiling, 90 percent ethyl alcohol is the neutral sodium salt every p-sulfophenylacetic acid is very difficult, on the other hand, the neutral sodium salt of o-sulfophenylacetic acid very easily soluble. r Auch die sauren Natriumsalze der Nitrosulfophenylessigsäuren stellen in Wasser sehr leicht lösliche Stoffe dar. Aus ihren konzentrierten wäßrigen Lösungen kristallisieren diese Verbindungen in feinen, zu Rosetten gruppierten Nadelchen aus. r The acidic sodium salts of nitrosulfophenylacetic acids are also very easily soluble substances in water. They are pale yellow in color. Their separation can be carried out by means of concentrated sodium chloride water, in which the acidic sodium salt of o-nitro-sulfophenylacetic acid is less soluble than that of p-nitro-o-sulfophenylacetic acid. These compounds crystallize out of their concentrated aqueous solutions in fine needles grouped in rosettes.
For the reduction, the paste of nitrosulfophenylacetic acids obtained in the way described above is gradually added to a boiling mixture of 500 l of water, 200 kg of iron filings and 5 kg of 50 percent acetic acid. After the reduction is complete, soda is added until the reaction to turmeric paper is clearly alkaline and ; Filtered off the iron sludge while boiling hot. After the addition of excess hydrochloric acid, the sodium salt of oxindole-p-sulfonic acid and, in a small amount, p-amino-o-sulfophenylacetic acid precipitate from the reduction broth. The two compounds can easily be separated due to their different solubility in water. The separation of the acids as sodium salts is just as easy, since the sodium salt of the last-mentioned acid is much more readily soluble in water than the first-mentioned sodium salt.

From hotter to more concentrated In aqueous solution, it crystallizes in white elongated columns on rapid cooling the end. It can easily be precipitated from its aqueous solution by adding table salt will. In contrast, the sodium salt of p-amino-o-sulfophenylacetic acid is also Very easily soluble in cold water and can also be obtained from its concentrated aqueous solutions cannot be felled by adding table salt. When hydrochloric acid is added to its aqueous solution, this is difficult soluble p-amino-o-sulfophenylacetic acid from. This is also sparingly soluble in hot water; from its hot aqueous solution it crystallizes into elongated ones on cooling Pillars from.
. .The behavior of the two bodies towards nitrous acid is very different. While the sodium salt of oxindole-p-sulfonic acid on treatment with nitrous acid into isatoxime-p-sulfonic acid is transferred, arises from the p-amino-o-sulfophenylacetic acid by Exposure to nitrous acid creates a diazo body. . .
Both compounds should not only serve directly to represent dyes, but also converted into compounds suitable for dye purposes by further processing will.
Instead of, as indicated in the example, the nitrosulfonic acid salts by adding It is also possible to separate table salt from the nitrating mass diluted with water represent the calcium or barium salts of nitrosulio acids and reduce them, or the nitration mixture diluted with water can also be used directly with reducing agents Treat funds.
