Description

The invention relates to a method for preventing the corrosion of copper by acetic acid.

From US-PS 3231507 it is known to use corrosive liquids as propargyl alcohol or propynol Add corrosion inhibitor.

However, this cannot prevent the corrosion of copper in acetic acid.

The invention relates to a method for preventing the corrosion of copper by acetic acid, which is characterized in that the acetic acid 0.01 to 10 wt .-%, preferably 0.1 adds up to 1.0% by weight of acetol or acetol ester of organic carboxylic acids.

The acetic acid is in an aqueous solution in any dilution.

Acetol can be produced by hydration of propargyl alcohol according to Reppe in the presence of Hg SO 4 Zh 2 SO 4 or by reaction on an ion exchanger loaded with Hg salts.

(Vgl. UUmann's Enzyklopädie der technischen Chemie, 14. Band, 3. Auflage, 1963.)Another known production method is the addition of methanol to propargyl alcohol, wherein initially 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-dimethoxy-dioxane-1,4 is formed, which then with water to acetol and methanol can be split. (See UUmann's Encyclopedia of Technical Chemistry, Volume 14, 3rd Edition, 1963.)

In the process according to the invention, esters of aliphatic carboxylic acids which have 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or 7 carbon atoms can be added as acetol esters of organic carboxylic acids. Both the esters of unbranched and branched carboxylic acids can be used here.
Such esters can accordingly be formed, for example, with acetic acid, propionic acid, n-butyric acid, i-butyric acid, n-valric acid or n-caproic acid.

In a preferred embodiment, acetol esters of the organic acids propionic acid, n-butyric acid, i-Butyric acid or Caproic acid can be used.

A mixture of these different acetol esters with one another and / or with acetol can also be used will.

The method according to the invention is explained and described in more detail using the following examples:

Beispiel 1example 1

A copper sheet is refluxed in 80% acetic acid. The additives to be investigated are added in an amount of 0.6% by weight of the acetic acid.
