It must then be considered very surprising that, as has been found, such aromatic arsenic compounds with trivalent arsenic, reversed under the action of mercury oxide or mercury salts, into aromatic ones Pass over mercury compounds. The new reaction, which is both alkaline and can also take place in neutral and acidic solution, opposes an exchange of arsenic Mercury; the arsenic is split off in the form of arsenic acid and the mercury takes its place in the benzene nucleus, and, depending on the nature of the used arsenic compound and, depending on the reaction conditions, the mercury compounds of the type
ArHgX oder Ar-Hg-Ar (Ar= Aryl, X = negativer Rest). ArHgX or Ar-Hg-Ar (Ar = aryl, X = negative radical).
Dimroth, B. 31, 2154ff.; 32, 758ff.; B. 35, 2032 und 2853ff.; Schoeller, Schrauth, B. 44, 1300 ff.)..25 With the help of this new reaction it is possible to remove the mercury at a certain point in the Benzene nucleus, and exclusively in this to introduce. This was known by means of Method not possible because amine- and phenol-like bodies are formed during the mercuration ortho- and para-mercured compounds often side by side, sometimes mixed up with dimercured substances, while the mercuration of carboxylic acids is exclusive led to ortho derivatives (cf. Dimroth, B. 31, 2154ff .; 32, 758ff .; B. 35, 2032 and 2853ff .; Schoeller, Schrauth, B. 44, 1300 ff.).
The products to be presented according to the new process are intended for therapeutic purposes to serve.
1. 34 g Phenylarsenoxyd werden in 300 ecm1. 34 g of phenyl arsenic oxide are in 300 ecm
Thereupon one digests on the boiling water bath, as long as there is still an excretion. The precipitate, which partly consists of mercury, is filtered off with suction, washed with water and dried. The mercury diphenyl formed is withdrawn from it by boiling with alcohol, which crystallizes from the filtrate in shiny needles with a melting point of 121-122 °.
For example, p-chlorophenyl arsenic oxide reacts quite analogously, obtained from p-chlorophenylarsinic acid or its salts (B. 41, 1856) can be prepared by reduction with sulphurous acid and potassium iodine.
In a solution of 22 g of p-aminophenyl arsenic oxide in 300 ecm of sodium hydroxide solution 10.8 g of mercury oxide are added with thorough stirring. The same thing disappears quickly and Immediately the liquid confesses to a pulp of shiny flakes, which are sucked off and with Water to be washed. The alkaline mother liquor contains large amounts of sodium arsenite. The crystals can be recrystallized from methyl alcohol, or better from chloroform, for example will. Needles are then obtained which, according to a melting point of 174 °, have properties
und Zusammensetzung (gefunden Prozent Hg = 52,07, berechnet Prozent Hg = 52,08) mit dem Quecksilberanilin Hg (C6 H5 NH2J 2 von Pesci (Gazzetta chimica 23, 2, 533) identisch erweisen. and composition (found percent Hg = 52.07, calculated percent Hg = 52.08) prove identical to the mercury aniline Hg (C 6 H 5 NH 2 J 2 from Pesci (Gazzetta chimica 23, 2, 533).
Die Zusammensetzung entspricht der eines Quecksilber-bis-nitrophenols.3. 4.6 g of 3-nitro-4-oxyphenyl arsenic oxide are dissolved in 40 ecm 2 η sodium hydroxide solution and the solution is treated with 50 ecm of sublimate solution (54.2 g of Hg Cl 2 per liter) at 0 °. The mixture is then heated on the water bath until the liquid above the slight precipitate has become clear, filtered and cooled. The addition of 30 ecm 2 η-acetic acid results in a beautiful yellow colored precipitate, which is filtered off with suction, washed with water and dried. By recrystallizing from acetone or precipitating the pyridine solution with alcohol, it is obtained in needles which are easily soluble in sodium hydroxide solution and do not melt up to 270 °. The composition corresponds to that of a mercury-bis-nitrophenol.
A solution of 5.8 g of 3-amino-4-oxyphenyl arsenic chloride hydrochloric acid (see below) in 18 ecm of water becomes a mixture of 20 ecm Water and 14 ecm 10 η sodium hydroxide solution Cooling added. Then 50 ecm of sublimate solution is left with stirring and cooling drop in and separate from the hardly cloudy liquid by acidification with about 2 N acetic acid the reaction product as a white precipitate. After vacuuming and washing out the substance can be dissolved in aqueous hydrochloric acid with water and again with sodium acetate deposited or out of solution in a little pyridine by alcohol in the form of very small, Needles combined to form rounded aggregates are obtained.
The above-mentioned hydrochloric acid aminooxyphenyl arsenic dichloride is obtained by dissolving 37 g of aminooxyphenylarsinic acid in 260 ecm of glacial acetic acid and 260 ecm of hydrochloric acid (D 1.19) with 16 ecm about n / i-hydriodic acid and treated with a brisk stream of sulphurous acid while cooling with ice. The mass finally confesses to a thick crystal slurry that you suck off with Glacial acetic hydrochloric acid (D 1.19), then washed with absolute ether and in vacuo over potash dries.
Dissolve 2.65 g of arsenophenylglyein sodium in 50 ecm of water, add 4.3 g of mercury oxide and heat gently until the yellow color has disappeared and the undissolved has turned a black color. It is filtered and the new product falls through Acidification with acetic acid. It gets rid of the arsenic by suction and washing with water Acid-containing mother liquor separately. It is soluble in soda.
A solution of 3.3 g of hydrochloric acid phenylglycine arsenic chloride (patent specification 251104) is there on the addition of 50 ecm of mercury chloride solution a strong white precipitate, which separated from the alkali containing strong arsenic acid by suction and washing with water will. The new substance, which is easily soluble in alkalis, contains a lot of mercury and also contains chlorine; it should essentially have the composition of a p-phenylglycine mercury chloride,

besitzen. Dimroth, B. 35, 2853, Anm. 3).own. Corresponding to the only one-time bond between the mercury and the benzene nucleus the alkaline solution with tin oxide soda immediately causes a strong precipitation (see Dimroth, B. 35, 2853, note 3).
