An diesen Druckraum ist eine Leitung β angeschlossen, die, in zwei Stränge f und f1 sich teilend, zu Zerstäubern g führt. Diese letzteren sind in der Nähe des Gaseinlaß- bzw. Gasauslaßventils h angeordnet. Die Leitung β und damit die Zerstäuber g werden beständig von Druckwasser aus dem Druckraum d gespeist, so daß fortwährend eine feine Wasserzerstäubung über den Gasraum hin stattfindet. Beim Sinken des Wasserspiegels treten die Gase durch die Einlaßventile h ein und streichen an den Zerstäubern vorbei, den Gasraum α füllend. Nach Umschaltung der Pumpe steigt der Wasserspiegel wieder in die Höhe und treibt die eben angesaugten Gase vor sich her wieder am Zerstäuber vorbei durch das Ventil h in die Druckleitung. Auf diese Weise werden die Gase einer doppelten gründlichen Wäsche unterworfen und verlassen gereinigt die Gaspumpe. Um Verstopfungen der Pumpe durch die niedergeschlagenen Staubteile zu vermeiden, bildet man den Boden der Gasräume in entsprechender Weise aus und saugt das Wasser oberhalb der Böden ab.ίο A centrifugal pump c alternately conveys water through a pressure chamber d into the containers α and b .
