Der Zweck dieses Filters ist, die Luft in Bierfässern oder Reservoirs, welche mit Bierfässern
in Verbindung stehen und durch Druckpumpen gespeist werden, vor der Berührung mit
dem Bier zu reinigen und dadurch zu verhindern, dafs schädliche Stoffe, welche sich vielfach, besonders
in der Atmosphäre der Lagerräume von Wirthschaftslocalen befinden, in die Reservoirs

Das Bier kann bei der Anwendung des Luftfilters nicht mehr durch unreine Luft geschädigt
werden und dadurch zu einem oft der Gesundheit nachtheiligen Getränk werden; Pilze, Sporen
und sonstige schädliche Körper und Gase, können nicht mehr durch den Druck der Luft, wie bei
der jetzigen Benutzung der Luftpumpe massenhaft in die Poren des Fafsholzes und in die
Risse und Spalten des Pechs, womit die Fässer ausgepecht sind, hineingetrieben werden und dadurch
die Fässer verunreinigen. Der in der beiliegenden Zeichnung dargestellte Apparat besteht
aus einem aus zwei Theilen hergestellten eisernen und emaillirten Behälter. Der obere Behälter A,
trägt eine Blechkugel B, welche oben durchlöchert ist, für den Eintritt der Luft. Auf dem
Boden der Blechkugel befindet sich mit Salicylsäure getränkte Baumwolle, durch welche die unreine
Luft zunächst hindurchpassirt und vorzugsweise von gröberen mechanischen Beimengungen
befreit wird. Durch das Rohr b b1 gelangt die
Luft in den aus geglühter Holzkohle hergestellten Block D, welcher auf dem Boden des unteren
Behälters E ruht. Dieser Kohlenblock D ist von einer desinficirenden Flüssigkeit umgeben;
z. The apparatus shown in the accompanying drawing consists of an iron and enameled container made of two parts. On the bottom of the metal ball is cotton soaked in salicylic acid, through which the unclean air first passes and is preferably freed from coarse mechanical impurities. The air passes through the pipe bb 1 into the block D made of calcined charcoal, which rests on the bottom of the lower container E. This block of coal D is surrounded by a disinfecting liquid; z. B. of over-manganese potash or other similar substances.
Das Saugrohr der Druckpumpe ist bei c mit dem Apparat verbunden und mufs die Luft bei
Betrieb der Pumpe daher von dem unteren Behälter durch den Kohlenblock und das übermangansaure
Kali aufwärtsströmen. Der obere Behälter A ist nun schichtenweise mit Holzköhlenpulver
zwischen Sieben gefüllt, nur ganz oben ist eine Lage Baumwolle angebracht, welche
verhindert, dafs Kohlentheile in das Saugrohr gelangen.The suction pipe of the pressure pump is connected to the apparatus at c and, when the pump is in operation, the air must therefore flow upwards from the lower container through the coal block and the over-manganese acidic potash. Durch dies Verfahren wird die Luft von allen vorher erwähnten schädlichen Beimengungen
