Synthetic materials for the manufacture of 1-islands, Brushes and the like
The invention relates to the use of synthetic materials for the production of paint brushes, brushes and the like.
High-quality paintbrushes and brushes are usually made from animal hair or bristles and also from vegetable fibers or from corresponding mixtures, with certain hair, bristle or fiber types being used all: η or mixed with one another, depending on the type and intended use. Although "polyacrylonitrile" is occasionally mentioned in relevant patent publications when listing the materials used to manufacture paintbrushes and brushes (DAS 1235 856, DP 882 242), such an enumeration arises from a lack of knowledge of the actual state of the art. So far, no island has been effectively manufactured from polyacrylonitrile, which was not possible due to the unfavorable properties of the unmodified polyacrylonitrile, in particular its brittleness and its sensitivity to bending and abrasion. The K r ice of adaptable for the brush manufacturing synthetic materials is therefore limited to the above-mentioned polyamides, polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride. However, the availability of these natural products is limited and the finished products produced are correspondingly expensive. It is therefore known to partially or completely replace the natural hair and bristles with certain synthetic materials. The criteria for the substitutability of synthetic materials for the production of paintbrushes and brushes are generally considered to be high strength, flexural rigidity and abrasion resistance, which is a prerequisite for sufficient resistance and durability of the products in the typical operations in question. The known materials which meet these requirements are those based on polyamide, polypropylene and polyvinyl chloride, which are used pure or in a mixture in appropriate elementary thread counts.
Ungeachtet der breiten Anwendung dieser synthetischen Materialien und der auf deren textlien Dauereigenschaften beruhenden Widerstandsfähigkeit während des Gebrauches besitzen die aus ihnenRegardless of the widespread use of these synthetic materials and the resistance based on their textile long-term properties while in use they possess them

Breite Anwendungsgebiete sind dem Einsatz synthetischer Materialien bisher verschlossen.manufactured products have considerable problems with regard to the quality of their usage behavior. In particular, the suppleness, the shape stability, the wettability and the spreadability of brushes and brushes, the synthetic materials included, totally inadequate. Ss comes to spread apart brush bristles, spraying off of the applied liquid, etc. When used painterly, streakiness occurs and insufficient ink coverage suf. For products for which a higher use value is required, such as B. flat brushes, Ring, easier, artificial paint brushes as well as cosmetic or other Fine-hair brushes must therefore still use natural hair and bristles. Wide areas of application are in use synthetic materials so far closed.
The purpose of the invention is to make paint brushes, brushes and similar items made of synthetic material with a high practical value corresponding to natural hair.
The invention is based on the object of a synthetic material find out which develops specific properties for the area of application under consideration, which are different from those of the natural Align materials as much as possible.
It has been found that threads, fibers or bristles made from acrylonitrile copolymers containing sulfonate groups can be used as components for the cutlery mixes used in the production of paint brushes, brushes and the like. The fibrous structures used have an elementary thread count of 20 to 80 dtex, preferably 40 to 65 dtex. The proportion of acrylonitrile in the copolymer is 65 to 96% by weight, the proportion of sulfonate groups (resulting from the copolymerization of acrylonitrile with polymerizable unsaturated sulfonic acid compounds) is 0.4 to 2.5% by weight. The remaining difference in the composition of the copolymer of 1.5 to 34.6% by weight is filled by any known copolymerizable compounds, such as. B. vinyl esters, vinyl halides or acrylic acid esters. These polyacrylonitrile structures are added to cutlery mixtures which also contain known threads, fibers or bristles made from natural, polyamide, polyolefin or polyvinyl chloride materials. The proportion of the material polyacrylonitrile in the cutlery mixture should be between 5 to 70% preferably between 10 9 to 40%.
It is possible with this admixture of the polyacrylonitrile material on the other hand, hand hair or bristles without degradation to substitute large proportions of the finished products, on the other hand the quality of products made from the well-known polyamide, To significantly improve polyolefin or polyvinyl chloride materials and their usability for more demanding applications to manufacture.
Dies betrifft insbesondere die substanzbedingte bekannte Biege- und Scheuerempfindlichkeit in Verbindung mit ihrer höheren Sprödigkeit, die sie bus dem Kreis derThe applicability of the polyacrylonitrile material is surprising in that when their textile-physical characteristics did not suggest their suitability up to now. This applies in particular to the substance-related well-known bending and abrasion sensitivity in connection with their higher brittleness, which they bus the circle of

bisher "betrachteten Materialien ausschlossen. '" Vie now found these properties are in the proposed "mixture proportions." and subtleties in favor of extraordinarily good suppleness, dimensional stability, wettability and spreadability completely superimposed on this structure. An essential fact of the good application-specific properties seems to be in that To lie content of sulfonate groups, which one the cutlery mix give a more hydrophilic character. As a valuation method for The quality of brushes available subjective assessment ranks the proposed material in the specified subtleties the proximity of the natural squirrel hair, which is regarded as a quality standard a.
Another advantage is that the threads and fibers containing sulfonate groups are based on polyacrylonitrile in any color Really colored can be used. The good suppleness, wettability, dimensional stability and spreadability guaranteed in the mixtures mentioned, a high quality of representation even after long-term use and continuous stress.
The invention is illustrated in more detail by the following examples.
