Abstract
Description
Layered sheathed electrical cable For electrical cables and wires In recent times, a jacket construction known as a "layered jacket" has often been used used. This is a plastic jacket with a thin Metal layer is underlaid. This metal layer is made up of a longitudinal one Metal band formed into a tube with overlapping band edges. The metal band is coated at least on its outside with a plastic, which is on the metal strip firmly adheres and welds to the plastic jacket under the action of heat. In addition, the tape edges are in the overlap area via this plastic layer glued or welded together.
AS 1 465 441).With such a jacket construction, the metal layer the permeation of moisture through the plastic jacket as far as possible prevented. The relevant characteristic value of the layered jacket is the so-called Locking factor. In addition, the metal layer can have an electrical function, for example take over an umbrella function. For example, it is known that with coaxial Antenna cables the metal layer forms the outer conductor, which extends directly to the dielectric a foamed plastic is applied (US Pat. No. 3,315,025). Keep coming the so-called layered jacket, especially for plastic-insulated communication cables are used in which the metal layer also has a shielding function (DT-AS 1 465 441).
The invention is based on the object of the locking factor of the known Increase layered jacket construction.
The invention is therefore of an electrical cable with a Layered jacket made of a longitudinally running, at least on its outside coated with a plastic and formed into a tube with overlapping band edges Metal band and a plastic jacket that is glued or welded to this pipe consists. According to the invention it is provided that over the overlap seam of the for Tube-shaped metal band is a metal band coated on both sides with a plastic is arranged, which has its plastic coating both with the molded tube Metal band and is glued or welded to the plastic jacket.
In the case of an electrical cable constructed in this way, the permeation path becomes for moisture penetrating from the outside, which improves the blocking factor means. This improvement depends on the width of the additionally provided, bilateral coated metal strip or the width by which this metal strip is the outer Band edge of the metal band formed into a tube with overlapping band edges on both sides covered, from. The greater this coverage is chosen, the more the blocking factor becomes enlarged. The greatest improvement in the locking factor is achieved in that the additional metal band also to a tube with overlapping band edges is formed, the point of overlap of the tape edges of the coated on both sides Metal strip as far as possible by about 180 degrees in the circumferential direction with respect to the point of overlap of the at least externally coated metal strip is arranged offset. To a such overlap point, which is not particularly favorable in terms of production technology, To avoid this, the outer metal band can also lead to a pipe with itself on gap be formed opposite band edges. In this case, too, it is advisable to if the gap provided here is offset by about 180 degrees in the circumferential direction for the overlap seam of the metal band formed into a tube with overlapping band edges is arranged.
In an electrical cable designed according to the invention can the wall thicknesses of the metal strips used, which are preferably Aluminum strips are coated with a known copolymer of ethylene are, compared to the previously customary wall thicknesses are significantly reduced.
Instead of metal strips with a wall thickness of About 0.2 mm metal strips can be used, which have a wall thickness of about 20 / µm. In this case it is useful to also check the thickness of the plastic coating to be chosen as low as possible, which further increases the barrier factor of the layer jacket is improved. Instead of a conventional coating thickness of around 50 μm a coating of about 5 to 20 µm is contemplated.
Assuming that with the usual layered jacket construction if the band edges of the metal band overlap by about 10 mm, then at a width of about 40 mm of the additionally provided double-sided coated Metal band increase the locking factor to about twice the value.
The new layered jacket construction is of particular importance for cables with a smaller diameter, i.e. cables with a smaller diameter than 20 mm. In this regard, the invention is of particular advantage for so-called Antenna cables, the insulation of which is made from a corrugated plastic, in particular made of cellular polyethylene. Well known are the dielectric properties corrugated plastic insulation depending on moisture. The provided according to the invention Layered jacket construction is expediently so in antenna lines of this type modified that the outer conductor of the antenna line from a thin as possible Aluminum tape of for example about 20 / um thickness is formed, the outside with an approximately 5 to 10 / µm thick plastic layer is coated. On the overlap seam is a metal strip coated on both sides, about 0.2 mm thick and 50 mm wide and a plastic coating on both sides, each 50 µm thick. In this case it can Metal strip coated on both sides has the direct current function of the outer conductor take over, while the metal band formed into a tube only takes over the alternating current function of the outer conductor.
Overall, such a construction would require less effort be connected to material for the outer conductor.
An embodiment of an electrical device designed according to the invention Cable in the form of a coaxial antenna line is shown in the figure.
The antenna cable consists of the inner conductor 1, the extruded, Corrugated insulation 2 made of polyethylene, the outer conductor 3 and the outer sheath 5 made of polyethylene. The outer conductor 3 is made of a longitudinally running, outside with a Copolymer of ethylene coated aluminum tape with overlapping tape edges shaped into a tube. The tape edges overlap by about 10 mm. on the overlap seam is another metal strip 4 applied in the longitudinal direction, which covers the outer band edge of the outer conductor 3 on both sides by about 25 mm and which is also coated on both sides with a copolymer of ethylene.
When forming the outer conductor 3 and when applying the metal strip 4 and the outer jacket 5 weld the overlapping band edges by the action of heat of the outer conductor 3 with each other and with the metal strip 4 and the metal strip 4 and the outer conductor 3 with the outer sheath 5.
