Letzteres deshalb, weil dadurch, daß die auf dem Rost befindliche Materialschicht dünner wird, das Gewicht der zu befördernden Masse und damit der Maschine geringer ist. Das obere über dem Rost b liegende Förderband d liegt mit seinem vorderen Ende oberhalb des Schars a, so daß es die ausgehobene, auf dem Schar befindliche Masse ergreift und so über den Rost zerteilt und auf dem Rost auseinanderzieht, daß ein Verstopfen der Maschine nicht eintreten kann. Die Kartoffeln fallen dabei, sobald sie die kurzen Roststäbe c verlassen, durch den Rost b und gelangen auf das unter dem Rost befindliche Förderband f, durch welches sie weiter befördert und vollständig von der ihnen anhaftenden Erde befreit werden.
