Die Erfindung betrifft ein körniges Filtermaterial zur Luftfilterung. The invention relates to a granular filter material for filtering air.

Zum Ausfiltern von Geruchs- und/oder Schadstoffen aus Luftströmen hat sich Aktivkohle als Filtermedium bewährt. Zum Einsatz ge-. langt diese Aktivkohle meist in Form von Körnern, die in Filtergehäusen als lose Schüttung eingefüllt und gehalten sind. Um eine gute Adsorption der Geruchs- und/oder Schadstoffe zu erzielen, ist eine -gewisse Verweildauer der Luft im Filterbett erforderlich. Diese Verweildauer ist abhängig von der Dicke des Filterbettes und der Luftgeschv/indigkeit, und zwar so, daß bei kleiner Luftgeschwindigkeit nur eine gBringe Dicke des Filterbettes erforderlich ist. Der Luftwiderstand des Filters ist ebenfalls von der Luftgeschv/indigkeit und der Schichtdicke des Filterbettes abhängig. In vielen Fällen ist man aus Platzgründen gezwungen, gegebene Luftmengen mit Filtern kleiner Flächenausdehnung und großer Schichtdicke zu filtern, was erhebliche Druckverluste für die durchströmende Luft bedingt.
