Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 5. November 1910 ab.Patented in the German Empire on November 5, 1910.
It has been shown in the patent 243075 that the Ipatieff process for the preparation of isoprene can be greatly simplified by passing the dihalide over heated soda lime or similar oxides at temperatures of 500 to 600 °. At higher temperatures, the elimination of the hydrogen halide is directed more towards the formation of isoprene and dimethylallylene. However, it has now been found that in some cases the use of fixed alkalis at the high temperature causes a reduction process in such a way that ζ. B. is formed from arylene dibromide amylene.

This naturally affects the isoprene yield.
In order to avoid this, bases or metal oxides can successfully be replaced by their Carbonates or their salts with organic acids are used, or one derives a stream of carbon dioxide through it simultaneously with the dihalide or halohydrin or add organic acids such as oxalic acid or acetic acid to these substances and distilled over the bases or metal oxides. The best temperature for the reaction is about 600 °, but it lies within wide limits far below and above 600 °; With these In some cases, the monohalides are also formed in the first phase of reactions, but these then when using excess carbonates, etc., another molecule of hydrogen halide split off and convert to isoprene. The reaction product can be distilled off of the isoprene fraction are those unsaturated halogen isopentenes, from which one can pass over again by passing over the heated carbonates, etc. can win isoprene.

It has thus been shown that it makes no difference in which position the Halogen atoms are in isopentane.
i. Beispiel.i. Example.
Soda lime has proven to be the simplest means of splitting off Way is prepared. It is first heated in metal vessels if possible strongly dried, then carbon dioxide is introduced until saturation is possible is done. To carry out the reaction, the lid is closed, heated to about 600 ° and the amylene bromide is left on drip into the bottom of the vessel in such a way that the vapors pass through the Layers have to go up. So that there is no clogging during the operation the calcium bromide enters, one can through wire nets on which the soda lime is spread out, keep lanes constantly. These wire nets must of course not be made of oxidizable Made of metal. They also appear to catalyze the reaction.
About 500 to 1000 g of soda lime or burnt soda are consumed per kg of amylene bromide Lime, and you get about 60 to 75 percent of theory of rectified isoprene.

Acids dries calcium oxalate or calcium acetate or the corresponding sodium salts or their mixture is also strong and otherwise performs the operation in the same way Way out. When using acetates, the isoprene obtained is by acetic acid and some acetone contaminates, which can easily be separated from it by shaking with water can. For 1 kg of amylene bromide there are 800 to 1200 g of calcium oxalate or 600 to 1000 g sodium acetate required.
3. Beispiel.3rd example.
Hierbei zerfällt wahrscheinlich ein Teil der Oxalsäure zu Kohlendioxyd, wodurch die reduzierende Wirkung der basischen Oxyde herabgesetzt wird, denn die Ausbeute an Isopren ist erheblich besser als nach dem älteren Verfahren, auch besitzt es einen besseren Brechungsindex.500 g of amylene bromide are mixed with about 50 to 60 g of anhydrous oxalic acid and distilled from a distillation flask into the vessel, which has been charged with quick lime, soda lime or another basic agent and heated to about 600 u. In this process, a part of the oxalic acid probably breaks down to carbon dioxide, which reduces the reducing effect of the basic oxides, because the isoprene yield is considerably better than with the older process, and it also has a better refractive index.
4. Beispiel.4th example.
.500 g of i-chloro-a-oxy-z-methylbutane heated with about 50 to 60 g of anhydrous oxalic acid in a distillation flask and the Steam directly over the heated to about 600 ° basic oxide (soda lime or quick lime). In this case, go a part of i-chloro-2-oxy-2-methylbutane through unchanged and can after distilling off of the isoprene can be recovered and sent through the apparatus again. .
