Description
It is known that the metal sheets for fuel tanks are dipped or sprayed with zinc phosphate layers to provide corrosion protection and to apply a paint to the outer surfaces of the tank. The inner surfaces of the tank then have the phosphate layer as the only corrosion protection, i.e. the one here forms the primary protection against corrosion, while it is only an intermediate layer on the outer surfaces of the tank represents under the applied varnish. As has been shown, the one through the phosphate layer is often sufficient corrosion protection formed not at least for a long time, especially since such a phosphate layer is sensitive to moisture.
From "Phosphating processes in the metal industry" by Krause, 3rd edition, 19- + 4, page 54, is it also known the inner container surface of fuel tanks with two layers, namely one Phosphate layer and a layer of varnish to cover. This is because of the large electrical resistance the lacquer layer, however, is inappropriate when manufacturing the container by welding. The same is true for containers according to CH-PS 225 325, where sheets with fine zinc coatings are covered with drying Paints are treated afterwards.
The invention is based on the object of a container, in particular a fuel tank for Motor vehicles, the inner surfaces of which are formed by a phosphate layer, the also on its inner surfaces an effective corrosion resistance against gasoline, for example and which can be produced by welding. The inventive solution to this problem is characterized by the features of the main claim. The sub-claim includes a preferred one Choice of material.
Als Materialien kommen im übrigen in Frage:Other possible materials are:
Lein-, Rizinus-, Mohn- oder Olivenöl, Holzöle; Copolymerisatprodukte aus Acrylsäureester, kurzöliger Epoxidharzester auf Basis trocknender Fettsäuren, mittelöliger Alkydharzester auf Basis trocknender Fettsäuren, mittelöliges Alkydharz auf Basis trocknender Fettsäuren; Polyamid- oder Epoxidemulsionen. Linseed, castor, poppy seed or olive oil, wood oils; Copolymer products made from acrylic acid esters, short-oil epoxy resin esters based on drying fatty acids, Medium oil alkyd resin ester based on drying fatty acids, medium oil alkyd resin based desiccant fatty acids; Polyamide or epoxy emulsions.
The prior art also includes the use of paraffin to compress the phosphate layer on metal sheets. These paraffin layers are firm to the touch, but are neither for a lacquer application nor for educating one Suitable for petrol resistance. It is also known to coat metal sheets with an oil that remains fluid. Apart from the fact that liquid oils produce unpleasant vapors when welding the sheets into a container and form gases, they are washed away by the liquid filled in the container over time. All these disadvantages are inventively by using a drying oil, varnish or Resin thinning avoided. As has been shown, a sheet treated in this way has a good weldability and insensitivity to petrol. Optionally, drying accelerators can be used be used.
From US-PS 3061447 it is known for corrosion protection to impregnate an oxide film with a drying oil in the case of containers. In contrast the container according to the invention does not have an inner oxide layer but a phosphate layer. Even the US-PS 2632562 and page 54 of the German color magazine, issue 2/1964, describe the use of linseed oil or linseed oil varnish, with fillers such as lead pigment being used. Accordingly The sheets used here do not have a compacted phosphate layer.
Finally, DE-PS 748361 describes a rust protection method for the inner surfaces of fuel tanks, in the case of the after-treatment of the phosphated inner surfaces, sodium silicate solutions be applied. But as soon as there is water in the container, as is the case with a fuel tank is always the case, this inorganic material dissociates, then reacts alkaline and leads to dissolution the phosphate layer, so ultimately gives rise to the corrosion of the sheet metal that needs to be avoided.
It could also be demonstrated that in the invention the adhesive strength of the externally applied Lacquer layer is not adversely affected.
The figure shows a section through a fuel tank equipped according to the invention, the individual dimensions are not shown to scale. The tank is made up of two along the flange 1 assembled by spot-welded parts. The sheet 2 is facing outwards with the zinc phosphate layer 3 occupied, which in turn carries the lacquer layer 4. On the other hand, on the inside of the Sheet metal only one layer, namely that, for example, by a dried, water- and petrol-insoluble Oil compacted zinc phosphate layer 5.
