Abstract

The adjustable louvre in front of the motor vehicle radiator has horizontal strips which are actuated by a lever system. This lever system is connected to an actuating circuit which has a thermostat, a solenoid and a toggle lever. The toggle lever ensures that the louvre blades are not blown open by air stream or by fan sunction. The thermostat actuates a switch which in turn closes the energisation circuit to the solenoid. This solenoid actuates the toggle lever and the actuating linkage of the louvre blades. The thermostat opens the louvre only when the cooling water has reached a certain temperature. This system ensures that the engine warms up quickly.
