Abstract
Low temp. Ni steel is welded using the submerged arc welding method and >=2, pref. three austenitic steel welding electrodes of different composition, which are arranged in tandem along the seam. The second electrode contains 0.15% N and its composition is such as to increase the strength of the weld metal, to give a 20% increase in the O-1.0 limit. The composition of the three electrodes is: No. 1 and No. 3 electrode; - 0.19% C, 0.4% Si, 10.5% Mn, 17.5% Cr, 14.5% Ni, 3.5% W. No. 2 electrode; - 0.03% C, 1.0% Si, 7.5% Mn, 20.5% Cr, 15.5% Ni, 3.0% Mo, 0.15% N2.
