Description
The invention relates to an electrophotographic suspension developer for the toner image transfer process, which contains a plastic-coated toner in an insulating carrier liquid.
It is known that on electrophotographic recording materials, electrostatic recording materials and the like to wet or dry electrostatic latent images formed to develop. The known development methods can be used in terms of a different generation Divide the final image copies into a transfer method and a direct method. It is therefore theoretically possible to use both wet and dry development methods as the transfer method or to carry out direct proceedings. The wet development is the dry development in it consider that the image copies obtained thereby have a lower edge effect and a high resolution exhibit. In the transfer process, it is possible to copy images onto conventional image receiving materials such as paper, films or foils and the like that do not have a photoconductive layer, to create. The transfer method accordingly has the advantage that the image copies obtained are in comparison to image copies produced by the direct method are far easier to handle. In the case of transfer processes, dry development has so far been used predominantly; a wet development Hardly any attempt has been made to date as part of a transfer process. The main reason this is as follows: In the case of dry development, the toner serving as a developer consists of a dry, non-sticky powder to form the image formed on the photoconductive layer easily transferred and that left on the photoconductive layer after the transfer Residual image can be easily removed. In contrast, this is the case with wet development with the help of a dispersion

All of the components required to produce the colored particles (A) (cf. Table I) are first kneaded on a heated roller mill and then into particles with the aid of a jet mill pulverized a size of about 5 μm. Furthermore will the total amount of pigment required to produce the sticky, suspended particles (B) and Resin and 500 g of dispersion medium are kneaded on a roller frame, whereupon the remaining dispersion medium is mixed in and the whole thing in a homo- generator is processed into a dispersion. Finally, 50 g of the powdered colored particles are made (A) and 500 g of the dispersion (B) obtained for the preparation of a ready-to-use electrophotographic Suspension developer dispersed in the specified carrier liquid.
