Der Korkzieher besteht aus einer Hülse a mit einem inneren röhrenförmigen Stück b, in welches lose der mit Kurbel c versehene Korkzieher eingesetzt wird.The corkscrew consists of a sleeve a with an inner tubular piece b into which the corkscrew provided with a crank c is loosely inserted.
Beim Gebrauch dieses Korkziehers wird die Hülse α über den oberen Theil des Flaschenhalses geschoben und dann die Kurbel, im ersten Momente unter Anwendung eines geringen Druckes nach unten, herumgedreht. Der Korkzieher bohrt sich dabei nicht nur in den Kork ein, sondern veranlafst denselben, sich auf seiner Schraubenfläche nach oben, d. h. aus dem Flaschenhals herauszubewegen, so dafs das Entkorken ohne jegliche Anwendung gewaltsamen und möglicherweise auf die Zerstörung der Flasche hinwirkenden Zuges vor sich geht, und ohne dafs es nöthig wäre, dem Korkzieher irgend welche zurückgehende Bewegung zu ertheilen.
