Ein zusätzlicher Vorteil ergibt sich bei der Kühlung von Kolben bei Brennkraftmaschinen in Zylinderreihen in V-Form, wo bei der einen Zylinderreihe gefährdete Kolbenbereiche und bei der anderen Zylinderreihe ungefährdete Kolbenbereiche an der Druckseite der Kolben liegen, also bei gleichen Kolben die Kühlanforderungen an beiden Zylinder reihen unterschiedlich sind, indem einfach die Funktionen der Zu- und Abflußbohrungen für das Kühlmittel von Zylinderreihe zu Zylinderreihe vertauscht werden.
