Description
Zusatz zu DBP «.. (P 20 35 258.3)Addition to DBP ".. (P 20 35 258.3)
The invention relates to a phosphor mixture for a fluorescent screen in cathode ray tubes and in particular to the chemical composition of this mixture. In the earlier application P 20 35 258.3, a cathode ray tube, preferably for light beam scanning, is specified, the luminescent screen of which consists of more than 90% yttrium silicate phosphor activated with terbium, and the amount of activator is 10 "" to 10%. The yttrium] silicate should preferably be used in the form of the orthosilicate activated with trivalent terbium.
In experiments with a scanning tube with a fluorescent screen a> tfä This material showed that the blue-green luminous substance has a very short decay time and a favorable light output owns. When using this tube for scanning from color films, however, it was found that the emission spectrum of the new phosphor contains too little red, so that an electrical signal component for red light is too little energy is available. The consequence of this is that the signal-to-noise ratio in the red channel turns out to be less favorable than in the other channels.
We.yen of the extraordinarily short afterglow of the yttrium silicate it is not possible to add any known red-emitting phosphor as an essential component, and a luminescent scliix'm produce from this mixture because at fast moving Objects in the television picture would be observable; E.g. if the red component is too long afterglow, it would be on moving edges appear a red tail.
Der erfindungsgemäße Leuchtschirm für Elektronenstrahlröhren besteht aus einer Mischung von 3-wertigem terbiumaktiviertem Yttriumsilikat und von Yttriumaluminat, vorzugsweise aus , ^ « _The fluorescent screen according to the invention for cathode ray tubes consists of a mixture of trivalent terbium-activated Yttrium silicate and of yttrium aluminate, preferably from, ^ «_

22 ). The yttrium aluminate can be activated with cerium for a more precise adjustment of the afterglow time. For the rest, however, it has been found that the inactivated yttrium aluminate with its afterglow behavior is very similar to that of the yttrium silicate, so that discoloration of the edges is practically not observed. The red emission of yttrium aluminate is very strong, so that an admixture of 20 to 30% is sufficient to obtain a fluorescent substance that allows a television signal to be obtained in the red channel of a film scanner, the signal to noise ratio of which corresponds to that of the other channels.
