Description
For the production of films and foils from plasticized cellulose esters of short-term fatty acids, it is known that the cellulose esters and other, practically ineffective additives are dissolved in organic solvents, whereupon the casting compounds obtained are filtered and then in the customary known manner with the aid of casting devices to form foils, for example to transparent foils intended for photographic substrates. The foils obtained are then dried and cured with the aid of hot air in the customary known manner in order to remove most of the solvent, often at temperatures above 93.degree.
It has proven to be disadvantageous that in the specified casting compounds, often in unpredictable ways Way so-called "amber spots" occur in which it is amber-colored or brownish-red precipitates.
B. in den Vertiefungen zwischen den Zähnen von Eisenmetall-Getriebepumpen oder an scharfenThe appearance of such colored, insoluble foreign matter can probably be explained by the fact that the casting compounds or casting solutions used. whose The solvent component consists practically at least partially of halogenated hydrocarbons, a low one, usually in a concentration of 0.1 to 0.5 percent by weight, based on the casting niche, present amount of water included, as the production of completely anhydrous starting materials difficult and impractical. In the presence of moisture, the halogenated hydrocarbons, which form part of the solvent component, in contact with fish particles. z. B. ferrous Pipes. Storage tanks and pumps, apparently partially broken down with the formation of hydrochloric acid besides other breakdown products. The acid formed in turn reacts with the film parts of the distribution system ^ with the formation of the most varied of iron-containing reaction products. This Event ultimately leads to the formation of the specified amber-colored or brownish-red foreign matter, which presumably evolves over time especially in those parts of the system that the casting mass flow does not wash around quickly enough be e.g. B. in the recesses between the teeth of ferrous metal gear pumps or sharp

The educated colored foreign matter can then enter the casting mass flow and finally even through the mechanical filters and into the custard funnels and thus get into the cast film, which leads to colored spots and imperfections in the film appear. It was also agreed that the specified colored foreign matter settle on the discharge nozzle of the feed funnel, which is disadvantageous Stripes or irregular grains in the cast film and the resulting films makes it unusable for commercial purposes.
Die Lösung des Problems mußte daher dadurch versucht werden, der Celluloseestergußmasse einen Stoff zuzusetzen, der mit der gebildeten Salzsäure unmittelbar nach der BildungOne that can be carried out in a simple and economical manner A solution to the problem identified is therefore urgently required. The use of "bone-dry" Starting materials are uneconomical and therefore out of the question. The solution of the problem therefore had to be tried to add a substance to the cellulose ester casting compound, which with the hydrochloric acid formed immediately after formation

Even if, therefore, the ferrous metal present was released by the salicylate Salicylic acid is partially attacked, a soluble complex is formed as a reaction product, which prevents the occurrence of colored foreign matter of the specified type.
B. Typical suitable such cellulose esters are e.g. B. cellulose acetate, cellulose propionate, Cellulose butyrate, cellulose acetate propionate and cellulose acetate butyrate.

, Is as already mentioned in the stabilized Celluloseestergußmassen, the solvent component to at least 5 weight percent of at least one of less than 100 0 C winning, chlorinated hydrocarbon. In addition to the chlorinated hydrocarbon, a wide variety of organic solvents can be present in the organic solvent medium, e.g. B. methyl alcohol, acetone, cyclohexane and butyl alcohol.
