Description
It is known that alkali or alkaline earth hypochlorites as such, especially calcium hypochlorite, active when used in aqueous media Supply chlorine. Appropriate use of calcium hypochlorite, however, has the disadvantages that this is difficult to bring into a certain desired permanent shape that can be introduced of the hypochlorite in a device used to treat the aqueous solutions suitable, such as a cylindrical shape, and that it has an erosion rate which is too high for practical technical purposes and, accordingly, its ability to Rapidly reducing the number of bacteria in wastewater quickly loses it and thus not the desired one long-term bacteriological control effect guaranteed when treating such wastewater.
und/oder desinfizierender Wirkung zur VerfugungThere is therefore interest in mixtures containing metal hypochlorites, in particular calcium hypochlorite, with the aid of which the number of bacteria originally occurring in wastewater can be reduced more and the recurrence of bacteria can be kept better under control than with the aid of the individual components of these mixtures.
The object of the invention is to provide new, stable, chlorine-containing compounds, in particular alkaline earth hypochlorites, which can be processed into various forms and have a sterilizing, cleaning and / or disinfecting effect
sind, daß sie als aktive Komponentenίο which, in the treatment of aqueous media, provide enough active chlorine that undesired organisms contained in these media are eliminated.
The invention thus relates to mixtures which develop active chlorine and which are characterized in that they are used as active components

The mixtures according to the invention contain other
sonsten im wesentlichen keine anderen organischen Substanzen, besitzen eine hervorragende Lagerungsbeständigkeit in Gegenwart von Luft und liefern in regelbarer Weise aktives Chlor, wenn sie nach Wunsch innerhalb einer längeren, vorausbestimmten Zeitspanne in wäßrigen Medien, wie Wasser eines Kühlturms oder eines Swimmingpools, oder zum Sterilisieren, Reinigen und/oder Desinfizieren eingesetzt werden.otherwise essentially no other organic substances, have excellent storage stability in the presence of air, and deliver in active chlorine can be regulated, if desired within a longer, predetermined period of time in aqueous media, such as water from a cooling tower or a swimming pool, or for sterilization, Cleaning and / or disinfecting can be used.
The mixtures according to the invention preferably contain up to about 25 percent by weight, in particular up to about 10 percent by weight of component B, based on the respective mixture. The lower limit the proportion of component B is about 2 percent by weight.
To prepare the mixtures according to the invention, the components are usually made into one unit Mixture processed and then used in the event that it is not used as a powder are to be converted into the desired physical form by pressing.
Mixing, preferably by mechanical methods, prior to compression molding can by several conventional methods of mixing at least substantially dry Materials are carried out, for example by stirring or shaking. Mixing is supposed to be in one be carried out in such a way that the grain size of the mixed components when combined of the dry materials is not significantly changed. A preferred method of mixing is the shaking method. This method creates a dry, flowable and uniform mixture obtained, which can be used as a powder or by pressing into a wide variety of shapes can be transferred. A wide variety of devices or presses can be used for pressing like a Colton press or a Carver press.
When the mixture is pressed, different pressures can be used for different lengths of time, and the time it takes for the finished product to disperse is only insignificantly influenced by the pressure and time taken during pressing. For example, a certain amount of the uniform mixture of the aforementioned components is placed in the mold, pressed for 1 second to 15 minutes at pressures of 770 to 840 kg / cm 2 and then removed from the mold. By applying a pressure of about 210 to 1360 kg / cm 2 , the mixtures are pressed into the desired shape in a satisfactory manner. If pressures below the aforementioned range are used, there is a risk that the shape will not be retained, while if pressures well above the aforementioned range are used, the solubility and / or the rate of erosion of the molding obtained is (are) reduced and a tendency to explode within the pressed chemical compounds.
The invention also relates to the use of the aforementioned mixtures for killing germs and for Prevention of the recurrence of germs in aqueous media.

The tablets obtained are round and flat and have a diameter of about 6.7 cm, a thickness of about 2.1 cm and a density of 1.80 to 1.95 g / cm 3 .
According to the aforementioned process, the first mixture is prepared by mixing for 20 minutes 8.62 kg of a commercially available, granular calcium hypochlorite with 0.45 kg of powdered, dry dichloroglycoluril in a circulating shaker mixer. The second batch is prepared analogously, but instead of dichloroglycoluril, 0.45 kg of 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril is used. The two mixtures obtained are then processed into tablets with a diameter of about 6.7 cm and a thickness of about 2.1 cm with the aid of a 40 t Colton press. The tablets containing dichloroglycoluril have a density of 1.84 g / cm 3 and a weight of 131 g and contain 73.6% active chlorine. The tablets containing tetrachloroglycoluril have a density of 1.83 g / cm 3 and a weight of 131 g and contain 77.1% active chlorine.

It is here the control of the originally present or recurring in a wastewater Bacteria by treating the wastewater with those used to prepare the mixtures according to the invention suitable components (experiment A) or with mixtures according to the invention (experiment B).
Versuch A
(Behandlung mit einzelnen Komponenten)Attempt a
(Treatment with individual components)
»Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater«, APHA, 12. A fresh, unfiltered wastewater stream is divided into three parts, each part having a chlorine requirement of Has 0.00022% active chlorine. The three parts are made with such amounts of calcium hypochlorite or dichloroglycoluril or 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril treats that there is a proportion of 0.00027% active chlorine in each case. The sewage samples are then stirred for 48 hours with the aid of a magnetic stirrer. Before chlorination and 30 minutes or 5 or 24 or 48 hours after the chlorination, the samples are bacteriological in view examined for the concentration of Escherichia coli (E. coli). Simultaneously with this analysis the residual chlorine content is determined in each case. The determination of the active chlorine content takes place after conventional iodometric methods. The bacteriological analysis with regard to E. coli (gram-negative Bacteria) is filtered according to the membrane filter methods (see »Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater ", APHA, 12th Edition, 1965). The water is also at the same time checked for the presence of gram positive bacteria (Enterococci group). From Table I is the relative effectiveness of the disinfectants used in experiment A can be seen.

Das 1,3,4,6-Tetrachlorglykoluril reagiert langsamer als das Calciumhypochlorit und das Dichlorglykoluril, ist jedochFrom the results shown in Table I, it can be seen that both E. coli and the Enterococci when using calcium hypochlorite is rapidly lowered that the effect of calcium hypochlorite is reduced and therefore not a long-term control like the chlorinated glycolurils guaranteed by E. coli bacteria. The dichloroglycoluril reacts more slowly and is guaranteed longer lasting control than calcium hypochlorite, however, is not as effective in the long term like 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril. From the results shown in Table II, it can be seen that the E. coli when used a combination of 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril and calcium hypochlorite killed faster and longer be kept under control. Even when using the combination of dichloroglycoluril and Calcium hypochlorite will provide longer control than with calcium hypochlorite alone, in this one However, the trap is to achieve the same reduction in the original number of E. coli bacteria initially a slightly higher concentration is required than in the case of the mixture of 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril and calcium hypochlorite. Using calcium hypochlorite alone will provide very poor control of recurrence Bacteria achieved, whereby even the combination of glycoluril and calcium hypochlorite is superior.
Kontrolle der ursprünglichen Anzahl und des Wiederauftretens von in Abwasser vorhandenen Bakterien mit 10% Komponente B enthaltenden GemischenControl of the original number and recurrence of bacteria present in wastewater with mixtures containing 10% component B.
The control effect against E. coli contained in unfiltered wastewater of 10% chlorinated glycolurils and mixtures containing calcium hypochlorite as the remainder compared to calcium hypochlorite optionally containing 10% glycoluril is shown. There will be stock solutions manufactured, the calcium hypochlorite and glycoluril or a chlorinated glycoluril in a weight ratio of 90:10 or only calcium hypochlorite contain. The concentrations of active chlorine in these solutions are, in the case of calcium hypochlorite 0.0994%, in the case of calcium hypochlorite with 10% glycoluril 0.0129%, in the case of Calcium hypochlorite with 10% dichloroglycoluril 0.0331% and in the case of calcium hypochlorite with 10% 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril 0.035%. There are then 500 ml aliquots of fresh, unfiltered Wastewater with a chlorine requirement of 0.0004OS% with certain volumes of these stock solutions treated, whereby in each case an active chlorine content of 0.000425% is used. Der Abstand zwischen der in den Rohren zuunterst befindlichen Tablette und demhave a length of about 71.1 cm (from inlet to outlet), a width of about 17.8 cm, and have a height of about 22.9 cm and are provided with a retaining wall about 7.6 cm from the outlet, which is equipped with an adjustable opening is. Each of these openings has a width of about 2.54 cm, with the retaining wall made of a plate consists of a solid material, the dimensions of which are those of the dissolving tank with the exception of the 2.54 cm wide opening. This opening extends over the entire height of the overflow of approximately 22.9 cm. Through the barrier wall opening becomes the height of the water level in the dissolving tank with an increase in the water flow rate of 7.57 l / min in each case by about 6.35 mm enlarged. About 0.97 kg of the tablets from the mixture according to the invention are consumed, which is a Consumption of active chlorine of about 0.75 kg corresponds. The consumption of calcium hypochlorite Tablets is about 1.48 kg, corresponding to a consumption of active chlorine of about 1.12 kg. Out From the results of the bacteriological analysis shown in Table V it can be seen that, for any given sample, that consisting of 5% 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril and 95% calcium hypochlorite Mixture compared to calcium hypochlorite alone even when using a one third less Amount has at least the same killing effect with respect to E. coli.
There are 12 tablets made from a mixture of 95% calcium hypochlorite and 5% 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril with the same number of calcium hypochlorite tablets not containing 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril compared.
The tablets are placed in the respective tubes and exposed to electricity for 16 days. 40 behandelt. 40 treated. The stock solutions are used in proportions such that each waste water sample is treated with a total of 0.000197% active chlorine. The samples are stirred and bacteriological analysis samples are taken before chlorination and 30 minutes after chlorination. At the same time, the residual chlorine content is determined. It can be seen from the results shown in Table VIII that mixtures of 1,3,4,6-tetrachloroglycoluril and calcium hypochlorite can achieve essentially the same or better effect in reducing the number of coliform bacteria in wastewater than can be achieved using Calcium hypochlorite alone. As already shown in Example 2 (Tables I and II), mixtures which contain the chlorinated glycolurils thus ensure a higher residual chlorine content than calcium hypochlorite alone. With a chlorinated glycoluril content of 2%, the mixture in question does not seem to have any advantage over calcium hypochlorite alone.
