Abstract

The seal (10) has an intumescent material (12) which foams up in the event of heat action with the foaming process initiated by a first electrical heat generator (14) mounted on at least one outside surface of the intumescent material. The heat generator can be a strip, grid or plate. The intumescent material requires a temperature of about 100 to 350[deg]C to trigger the foaming process.
