Compared to the previously commercially available mounting devices, stands, racks and shelves for several flat objects, the invention has some very functional advantages and innovations, which are explained in more detail below.

Essentially, the invention is designed to hold CDs (Compact Discs) and DVDs (Digital Versatile Discs) upright, with and without protective covers. However, depending on the design of the holder, other objects, regardless of their shape and design (e.g. floppy disks, VCS), can also be stored in it.

The invention is based on the idea of combining the greatest possible clarity and functionality, while ensuring a flexible overall capacity design without compromising comfort. Furthermore, the shape and capacity of the individual spaces should allow for the greatest possible variability.

Furthermore, the idea was to design the individual parts in such a way that they can be produced in a wide variety of materials, shapes and colors, provided that the materials meet the load requirements.

Various storage devices for stationary storage of CDs, DVDs, etc. are already in use, ranging from drawers to shelves (with and without doors) to so-called towers.

Storage type

In most cases, a horizontal or vertical storage method is preferred, with the narrow sides of the medium facing outwards, thus allowing the user only a very small area, or the narrow back, to identify the medium - i.e. read the title.

In cases where the media are placed upright and one behind the other, it is possible to store a large number of items in a small space, but the convenience of clarity is lost due to the hidden front sides (hereinafter also referred to as covers) of the items. The other cover can only be viewed by "flicking through".

In both cases, the problem still arises that when the storage medium is almost or fully utilized, a confusing storage situation arises that cannot be changed.

This problem was solved in the present CD shelf by placing the objects to be stored upright on a rotating support unit, so that two objects (Fig. 7) are always visible, with the large back facing each other and the cover facing outwards. This ensures that the medium can usually be recognized immediately due to the large cover surface.

The connection of support units (hereinafter also referred to as cheeks) can be rotated about a main axis (Fig. 5 axis "x"). Furthermore, the cheeks can be rotated about themselves by another axis (Fig. 6 axis "y").

In most cases of horizontal storage, another problem arises: if the manufacturer changes the size of the stored goods or, as with CDs, there are several different formats on the market, the stands can rarely be adapted to the changed conditions or the user's ideas. Either a fixed number of items to be stored is specified or, due to the design, only a limited change is possible.

The innovation is that the user can adapt the shelf type to his needs by exchanging the support units or sides.

Depending on the configuration, the multifunctional shelf offers the possibility of storing different goods (CD, DVD, VC, etc.) simultaneously within one shelf.

Expandability

In contrast to the shelves and stands currently on the market, the multifunctional shelf can be expanded almost infinitely due to its design, without changing the shape or functionality of the shelf. Theoretically, an infinite number of individual support units or sides can be mounted both one below the other and in front of the other (Fig. 4 + Fig. 8). The limit of the expandability of this multifunctional shelf is usually limited by the height of the room or by the height of the person and thus by the handling.

The multifunctional shelf can be used as a stand shelf with the corresponding stand base plate (Fig. 3 Part 1), as a wall shelf with the corresponding wall brackets (Fig. 1 Parts 1+4) or with a hanging device (Fig. 2 Part 1).

However, in order to ensure comfortable removal and loading of the shelf, it is necessary to attach the individual cheeks in a rotating manner.

In both the upright and the wall construction, the cheeks are rotated over a central rod and around an axis attached to the cheeks.

The function, flexibility and comfort remain unaffected by all types of fastening.

So that the stand version can still be moved around the room despite its high capacity, it is possible to equip it with standard furniture castors.

Claims (13)

Multifunctional shelf for holding flat objects with and without protective cover, held individually in an upright position and with variable insertion and removal options to the sides and to the front, characterized in that the individual carrier unit is equipped with at least two object holders ( Fig. 7) and the carrier units can be rotated about a central main axis ( Fig. 5 axis "x"). 2. Multifunctional shelf according to claim 1, characterized in that each support unit is rotatable about a further axis ( Fig. 6 axis "y"). 3. Multifunctional shelf according to claim 1 to 2, characterized in that the multifunctional shelf is held by a central tube/rod/column with optionally a wall bracket attached only at the top, a wall bracket attached only at the bottom, or wall brackets attached both at the top and bottom ( Fig. 1 part 1 + 4), a rotating stand base ( Fig. 3 part 1 ) or a rotating hanging device ( Fig. 2 part 1 ). 4. Multifunctional shelf according to claim 1 to 3, characterized in that the storage is carried out by a commercially available ball, needle, tapered roller or plain bearing. 5. Multifunctional shelf according to claims 1 to 4, characterized in that the individual support units are theoretically infinitely expandable ( Fig. 4). 6. Multifunctional shelf according to claim 1 to 5, characterized in that each cheek can be extended with further cheeks by attaching additional axes ( Fig. 8 part). 7. Multifunctional shelf according to claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the multifunctional shelf is equipped with either one or two doors. 8. Multifunctional shelf according to claims 1 to 7, characterized in that the doors are made of the usual types of plastic, wood or metal, but in particular of Plexiglas or acrylic glass. 9. Multifunctional shelf according to claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the surfaces of all individual parts of the shelf consist of the original material or are refined by painting, anodizing or a textile cover. 10.
