Abstract

A machine for compressing swarf into blocks for recycling has a compression chamber (24) fed via a funnel (36) and with a horizontally moving ram (14) to compress the swarf into the chamber. Measured amounts of swarf are dropped into the funnel and are compacted using a preset pressure, e.g. 150 bar. The process is repeated until a final compression at a higher level, e.g. 250 bar for a set time, against a set stop. The ram is retracted slightly and a shutter (28) opened on the other side of the block enabling the block to be pushed into an outlet track. The funnel has a clip fastening onto the compression chamber and is easily changed for different sizes of funnel to match the type of swarf being recycled. The pressure face of the ram is profiled to grip the blocks and improve the compaction.

Claims (9)

1. Maschine zum Pressen von Spänen, insbesondere von Aluminiumspänen, zu transportfähigen Barren (B), welche Maschine eine Kompressionskammer (24) aufweist, die durch einen in Richtung einer öffenbaren Schottwand (28) einfahrenden Stempel (14) verkleinerbar ist, welcher Kompressionskammer (24) eine von oben zu beschickende und vom Stempel (14) durchfahrene Füllkammer (6) vorgeordnet ist, deren Füllungsgrad die Kompressionsbe­ wegung des Stempels (14) veranlaßt, gekennzeichnet durch mehrere pro­ grammgesteuert nacheinander erfolgende Fahrbewegungen des Stempels (14) mit sich steigernder Druckkraft derart, dass zunächst eine Anzahl von Kompressionsfahrbewegungen des Stempels bis zum Erreichen eines be­ stimmten Widerstandes (z. B. 150 bar) in eine Rückfahrbewegung mit Pause und anschließender neuer Kompressionsfahrbewegung umgesteuert ist, um anschließend bei einer letzten Kompressionsfahrbewegung ein höheres Wi­ derstandsmoment (z. B. ca. 250 bar) aufzubringen bis in eine Stempel-Stopp- Stellung, in welcher sich zeitverzögert die Schottwand (28) öffnet mit an­ schließendem Ausstoßen des gepressten Barrens (B) durch Vorfahrbewegung des Stempels (14).1.
