Description
The invention relates to a system for determining the location of a movable rental object, comprising at least one stationary station.
It has proven to be useful to bundle the rental and return of rental objects in rental systems at stations in order to enable more efficient management of the system by the operator and thus to achieve a higher availability of the rental objects for their users.
After the return of the rental object, the relevant data for the settlement of the scope of use are determined at the return station and automatically transferred to a background system, from where the settlement is made to the customer and the returned rental property is released again for re-lease. If the rental system, which is the rule, includes a plurality of spatially distributed possible return stations, the location of the respective return must be recorded in this context with each return operation. Various approaches to this end are known from the prior art.
According to a first, very widespread solution, it is provided that stationary return stations record the presence or return of a rental object by means of sensory devices and / or user-controlled operator terminals and report the identity of a rental object detected in this way in a return station to the background system. This is possible, for example, by means of RFID tags, which are inseparably connected to each rental object and whose data stored therein - in particular the unique identification feature of the associated rental object - can be read out at the return station. However, such systems are very expensive to set up and maintain, since at all return locations a complex stationary technical infrastructure with appropriate energy supply is required. Thus, such systems are only profitable where either comparatively expensive rental properties are managed or the individual leases are priced very high. However, in particular for bicycle rental systems, such approaches are impractical, since here, on the one hand, there are overwhelmingly low priced or even short-term rentals free of charge for the user, and, on the other hand, within a predefined geographical zone, eg. B. within a city area, a plurality of spatially distributed return stations must be maintained so that the rental system is attractive to potential users. In particular, the return stations of a bicycle rental system must usually be installed in public (road) space, i. H. So in the field of cramped localities, where usually no available for the operation of technical infrastructure of the rental system power supply is available.
It would therefore be an obvious approach, the required for the return location of the rental property using a rental property associated self-sufficient location detection system - usually using a global satellite navigation system, such. B. GPS - perform. For this purpose, each rental property, z. As a rental bike, in the course of a initiated by the tenant return action determine his current location and the determined location data - together with the other relevant data such. Eg timestamp of the return process, - transferred to the background system. However, such systems have particularly in built-up areas such. B. in city centers as too inaccurate. Due to building reflections and other influencing factors, there is a distortion of the signal propagation times and thus sometimes very inaccurate location determinations. Since the rental properties are usually located only after their return, d. H. Thus, in a steady state, no dynamic algorithms can be used to improve the location result, as these are based on a movement of the rental property.
Alternatively, it would also be possible to use WLAN stations or stationary mobile radio cells of conventional mobile radio systems for locating a rental property. However, these systems are by no means static, but are subject to continuous changes on the part of their operators, so that for the operator of the rental system a permanent system maintenance would be required, which is neither permanently reliable nor economically feasible.
The object of the present invention is thus to provide a system for locating a mobile rental object, comprising at least one fixed station, which improves the accuracy of the location of a mobile rental object and at the same time is inexpensive to install and operate.
This is according to the invention. achieved in that the fixed station comprises a signal generator, which is arranged to receive a request signal emitted by the rental object and to transmit a stationary station identifying station identification, wherein the transmission of the station identifier starts only after receiving a request signal.
In a process-oriented manner, this is achieved according to the invention in that a signal transmitter assigned to the stationary station receives a request signal transmitted by the rental object and transmits a station identification identifying the stationary station, wherein the transmission of the station identification does not start until a request signal has been received.
Such a station identifier includes at least one respective stationary station uniquely identifying data element, after the receipt of the rental object can locate its spatial position. Due to the event-controlled transmission of the station identification in response to a received request signal, a transmission in continuous operation is prevented and the energy requirement of the signal generator is effectively reduced. The reduction of the energy requirement of the signal generator is an important prerequisite for the autonomous operation of the signal generator (ie without connection to a public power supply network) or a stationary station of a rental system equipped with such a signal generator. For this reason, the regular and independent of the presence of a request signal of the rental object sending the station identification at fixed intervals is not a generally sensible approach. Such a system. would be meaningful - if at all - only at stations with high usage intensity. However, especially in rental systems covering larger areas of space, the majority of the stations have no such high usage intensities.
The station identification may additionally contain further data elements whose contents describe variable operating parameters of the signal generator. In this way, time-dependent or variable status information about the status of the signal generator, such. As current energy supply or error status messages transmitted to the rental object and made available there from in central systems of the rental system and made usable.
A meaningful further development of the invention also consists in that the signal generator is set up for an interval-oriented receipt of request signals. In this way, the energy consumption of the signal generator can be further reduced. In addition, the reception intervals can be adapted programmatically to different usage intensities, such as those incurred during a typical daily course of events. So the reception intervals z. B. occur during the day hours at shorter intervals than during the low-use night hours.
The invention further provides that the device associated with the rental object for emitting the request signal and the signal generator for a time-limited transmission of near-field radio signals are set up. In procedural terms, this is to proceed to the fact that the request signal and the station identification are sent out as a temporary radio signal with a limited duration. In conjunction with an interval-oriented reception mode of the signal generator, the transmission phase of the request signal lasts longer than the reception phase of the signal generator. In this way, it is ensured that a request signal can not completely fall into a time phase during which the signal generator is not in the receive mode. Thus, no further synchronization between the device associated with the rental object for emitting the request signal and the signal generator is required.
The invention also relates in device-oriented terms to a bicycle rental system comprising such a system for locating a rental bicycle according to the invention, as well as a method of automatically returning a rental bicycle to a stationary return station by means of such a method of locating a mobile rental bicycle ,
