Dehnzonenmanschetten üblicher Bauart weisen eine durchgehende Vlies-, Gewirk- oder Gewebekaschierung auf der Ober- und Unterseite auf und sind im Bereich der Dehnzone von der Kaschierung ausgespart. Da die Membrane die Dehnzone bildet, muß sie zwangsläufig größer als die Dehnzone sein und ist im Außenbereich in der Regel gleich groß wie die Kaschierung, zumindest muss ein Verbund bestehen, wobei die Kaschierung auch überlappen kann. Die Membrane kann in der Mitte eine Lochstanzung besitzen, die kleiner als der abzudichtende Durchmesser ist, der nicht kaschierte Bereich in der Mitte der Manschette wird als Dehnzone bezeichnet, da die Dehnfähigkeit im äußeren Bereich durch die Kaschierung geringer bis aufgehoben ist.
