Description
ZusammenfassungSummary
According to the state of the art, controlled ventilation in the living space, in which the room air is periodically discharged alternately by means of flow reversal via a first regenerative heat exchanger, is proposed, while the outside air is supplied to the room via a second regenerative heat exchanger. Usually metals are proposed as material for the regenerators. If, however, as described in this application, used as a regenerator gravel, a much cheaper system can be realized. Due to the low cost, the regenerator material can regularly, z. B. annually, be replaced, a complex filtering of the air and a cleaning of the heat exchanger can thus be omitted.

1 Hintergrund/Stand der Technik1 background / state of the art
Controlled home ventilation is a well-known method to ensure the necessary indoor air quality with sufficient supply of fresh air in largely airtight rooms, on the one hand, and to reduce heat losses on the other hand.
1.1 Rekuperativer Wärmübertrager1.1 Recuperative heat exchanger

- • The heat exchanger requires large heat transfer surfaces due to the desired efficiency. Thus, this component is expensive and has large dimensions.
- • The installation of a heat exchanger of the type recuperator requires that supply air and exhaust air flow directly next to each other. Accordingly, there are specifications for the inlet and outlet openings in the rooms, usually long consuming air ducts must be laid.
- • It can happen that moisture is deposited in the heat exchanger, resulting in undesirable odors. The cleaning is expensive.
- • Air filters are usually necessary to prevent the build-up of dust and other substances. These are expensive and cause a flow pressure drop, so that the electrical power requirement for the fan is large. Furthermore, a maintenance of the filter is necessary. Nevertheless, it can not be ruled out that, over time, deposits form, which can lead to odors and possibly also be fire-promoting.
- • The required airflow takes place via free air ducts, so that fan noise can propagate into the living space. Frequently expensive mufflers are therefore used.
- • Especially in cold weather significantly more moisture can be removed from the room, as moisture is recirculated from the outside air. The result is a dry and uncomfortable climate. In order to counteract this problem, water vapor has to be added to the room.
1.2 Regenerativer Wärmübertrager1.2 Regenerative heat exchanger
Depending on the flow rate, it is possible to obtain the desired air exchange rate. The regenerator has a storage effect for thermal energy. In the flow direction, the thermal conductivity of the regenerator is preferably low. If the room temperature is higher than the outside air temperature, the air will slightly heat the regenerator as it flows out, whereas when it flows in it will be heated again by the regenerator, which cools down a bit. The amount of over the Regenerator flowing air can be determined by means of time, ie how long the air flows in one direction. The regenerator mass must also be determined appropriately for this air volume. Ideally, an approximately linear temperature profile in the regenerator should result between the outside temperature and the inside temperature. With a perfect heat transfer, the incoming room air would warm up to room temperature again.
- • The proposed metallic regenerators are expensive.
- • In the manufacture of metallic regenerators, coolants or lubricants that are difficult to remove from the surfaces may be used in the manufacturing process. This can not exclude odor problems.
- • As is well known, metals develop a "smell", as z. B. of coinage is known, which can be disturbing.
- • There is a risk that deposits will form on the regenerator surface, eg. As dust and organic substances such. B. fat. These deposits are very difficult to remove. In addition to the hygienic problem, such deposits can also be fire-promoting, especially with regard to the large metal surface. Because of this problem, effective air filters are required, the flow pressure drop lead to a significant additional electrical power requirement for the fan. Furthermore, maintenance (eg filter replacement) is required.
- • Due to the temperature distribution in the regenerator, there is a risk of condensation of the water vapor of the room air at the regenerator surface. There is thus the danger of mold growth and its known consequences.
2 Problemlösung2 problem solving
- • The regenerator can be produced very cheaply as a gravel filling.
- • The filling can be easily replaced, for example once a year, so that no hygienic disadvantages can occur.
- • The used bed can be easily disposed of and, for example, used as building material.
- • There are no other costly air filters required as the bed is changed regularly anyway. The cost of this change are usually even lower than the cost of new filters in the systems with recuperators.
- • Due to the drop in flow pressure, it is possible to dispense with ventilation flaps in the system. Even if the ventilation is out of operation, only a little heat from the interior can be dissipated to the environment due to natural convection.
- • Since, in contrast to solid components, the regenerators only have a low conductivity through the component, it is not necessary to expect large thermal losses.
- • The fans can be placed outdoors, so no noise from fan noise is expected. Mufflers are not required.
- • Instead of as in
1a and1b shown only one reversible fan can be used. - • No air ducts are required except the two openings to the room. This is also of great importance in terms of fire safety.
- • Mineral regenerator materials are non-flammable and impede flame propagation.
- • If hygienic problems are to be feared, bacteriostatic material (eg metals, surfactants) may also be added to the bed.
- • As storage material, the known moisture-sorbing minerals (eg porous stone, zeolite, brick, etc.) can also be used. Due to the temperature profile in the regenerator, the outflowing air is dehumidified in cool weather and the inflowing air is moistened again during the next cycle. This results in indoor spaces, especially in cool weather, a pleasant, not too dry room climate.
- • The method is also suitable for rooms with high moisture content (eg bath). Here come preferably minerals with low tendency to absorb moisture, z. As granite, quartz, glass, etc., are used. Due to the temperature profile, this results in a moisture precipitate on the surface of the regenerator material, which can be derived. Thus, the air flowing back into the room via this regenerator in the next cycle is less moistened when the outflowing air was dehumidified. In (temporarily) very large room humidity, it may also be appropriate to provide additional ventilation z. B. by means of an open window or ventilation duct in the wall to ensure adequate removal of indoor air humidity.
- • Of course, instead of in
1 illustrated embodiment with two spatially separated regenerators and a central unit, s.2 to be designed. - • The regenerative heat exchanger can also be installed in the room wall (
4 ), s.3 , - • Due to the large specific heat storage capacity of mineral substances, results in a small compact component, the z. B. can be integrated directly into the wall. Estimates show that for a room with a floor area of 4 meters × 5 meters and a height of 2.5 meters (room volume = 50 m 3 ) an air change cycle of 1/10, ie 5 m 3, may be sufficient. The corresponding mass of regenerator material is then about 7 kg for the regenerator material gravel (or comparable rock).
- • The system is particularly interesting for the old building sector, where central ventilation systems can often only be integrated with great effort.
