Description
KAISERLICHESIMPERIAL
PATENTAMT.PATENT OFFICE.
In deep drilling with diamond crowns it often occurs that when they hit the drill bit grinds so much iron off the drill lip in a short time on hard rock, that the drilling diamonds are exposed and loosened in their setting and finally fall out. The resulting Diamond losses add up to large sums of money every year. According to the invention these diamond losses should be prevented in the following way: The drill bit is provided with indentations. These are filled with water-soluble dye and so closed that its closure changes in the course of the wear and tear of the iron parts of the The drill bit loosens before the diamonds threaten to loosen. E.g. in the drilling lip next to the diamonds several holes as large and deep as possible are drilled close together and connected to each other at their base in order to equalize pressure and counterpressure. These boreholes are then filled with a strong, preferably deep red colored substance and then closed with a common metal plate.
The strength of this closure plate is to be dimensioned so that it loosens before as a result Wearing of the drill lip loosening and falling out of the diamonds occur could. The dye can now escape and mix with the drilling fluid. The colored rinse water can now ■ For days it was seen that the crown had to be replaced to prevent it from being lost to prevent from diamonds.
