This utility model application concerns a safety device that can be used in raised and underground tanks and product mixers.

The accident prevention regulations state that if the container opening is more than 400 mm, a fall-through protection device must be installed.

The operators of such plants circumvent this by installing a manhole guard by installing a structure with a diameter of less than 400 mm, or by an operating instruction that a manhole guard must be inserted when opening the container lid, but in practice this is not done.

It is necessary for the operator to take product samples from these openings (manholes) and, if necessary, to be able to enter for maintenance, cleaning or repairs

Cross tube

2 x 465mm saw off pipe, turn it, weld it inside and deburr it to 460mm, mill one pipe in the middle with a 0 26mm cutter, deburr it in the middle and weld it parallel to the other pipe

Mounting piece

Saw off round steel 4 x 104mm, face turn on one side and bend approx. 0.5 x 45°, clamp, face turn, bend 3 x 45°, screw in O-ring groove, drill core hole 8.2-8.4mm x 45mm and cut thread MIO x 30 - 35mm.

For variant 2, increase the workpiece length, cut at 45° and weld together at right angles.

Assembly

Check that working is safe due to explosive gases in the container. Hold the cross pipe with fastening pieces (slipping out prevented by O-rings) in the middle of the manhole. Circle the through pipe on both sides with a pin. Drill a 0 10mm diameter hole in the middle of a circle and deburr it. Fasten with screws and copper rings from the outside. Tighten slightly. Screw/screw the cross hole. Insert 2 short pins into the thread, align and press outwards onto the manhole shaft. Pull away. Turn the cross pipe away, punch a point. Fastening process as above. Then tighten all screws firmly using water pump pliers.

This method of fastening avoids tension in the securing cross.
