2.1 State of the art

Well-known types of transport equipment (not toys such as tricycles), such as back carriers and strollers of any kind, have many advantages for parents as users, but also very significant disadvantages.

2.1.1 Back carrying

Back carriers are very easy to take with you on trips because they are usually quite small and flat. However, for children of a certain age, this becomes increasingly uninteresting. They have to sit or crouch in a rather cramped position and cannot spontaneously give in to their natural urge to move, for example to pick a "dandelion" by the side of the road. For the adults who use these carriers, it is also an increasing, constant burden (back pain) as the child's weight increases. Putting the child in the carrier often proves to be an exercise in patience and lifting it onto the shoulders a feat of strength that often has to be managed by two people. Long walks or hikes quickly become torture instead of providing a relaxing effect.

2.1.2 Strollers

Strollers (sports buggies) are more likely to meet the needs of children. They can sit comfortably in them and can also get out of them. As a rule, the stroller is quite easy to push and newer models (so-called "joggers" or "country" buggies) have very good qualities in the area of leisure activities such as hiking due to their large wheels. In contrast to the small-wheeled ones,

"City buggies" are quite off-road capable and robust. "City buggies", on the other hand, are easier to use on paved paths, as they usually have steerable wheels, which is an invaluable advantage in narrow shops compared to the rather large constructions of "country" buggies. However, they are almost impossible to move on forest paths or on the beach. The so-called "umbrella buggies" in particular have a hard time with this, but have the advantage that they can be folded up very small and can be taken along on trips to save space.

2.1.3 Two-axle handcart

Another alternative is the classic two-axle handcart with the appropriate tires. They are robustly constructed, can take two children and some load, depending on their size, are easy to steer and are also suitable for hiking. They usually have large tires and/or wheels, which give them a large footprint, so that the cart does not sink, for example, on the beach and remains mobile. However, the cart is very bulky when traveling due to its rigid, large construction and often cannot be transported in a car trunk, let alone with luggage. The two-axle carts are hardly usable on narrow, winding hiking trails.

2.1.4 Other

I don't want to use the tricycle with push handle as an alternative here. It's a toy and, due to its design, is only suitable for short trips in the city on flat surfaces. It's not suitable for use on hikes or when travelling in general, as its rigid design means it takes up a lot of space in the trunk, for example.

3 Problem description

The invention specified in the protection claim is based on the problem of creating a means of transport (for travel) which meets the following needs:

• space-saving design that not only fits normal luggage but also the trunk of a compact car in the lower middle class (so-called "Golf class");

• robust construction that can easily withstand the stresses and strains of the child itself (standing up during the journey, rocking, etc. (see safety instructions!!));

• robust construction that is so stable that even obstacles such as curbs, tree roots, etc. can be driven over without damage;

• easy to maneuver construction that can be steered through the smallest corners within the city, but has enough qualities to get around on forest paths and on the beach outside;

• the adult driving the car does not have to exert any effort to steer it with the child;

• offers the child a place to sit and rest while also being fun, a construction that the child will accept on their own;

• does not force the child to sit motionless, but encourages certain activities (e.g. maintaining balance, shifting weight when going uphill or downhill);

• Space-saving parking in the smallest of spaces, even when the trolley is assembled.

4 Solution and advantages

The invention completely solves the problems described above.

The advantages are explained in detail by the problems and the solution provided by the invention, so that only a few points are highlighted here.

The extremely robust construction is the result of the triangular construction of the frame and the axle. A steel axle is attached with large-dimensioned carriage bolts to the axle mount that is perpendicular to the frame in the wooden construction (not necessary in the welded metal construction). The solid rubber wheels (or pneumatic wheels if required) are attached to this axle and secured with a split pin. Using the split pin, the wheels can be easily removed or exchanged for other wheel sets.

A non-steerable roller is attached to the lower end of the parking support. This is very useful when overcoming obstacles. If, for example, the stroller is to be pulled up a curb, you first pull it towards the edge until both wheels are on the curb. The parking support is already on the curb. The small roller has the effect that the material of the support does not wear out because it is being pulled over the pavement. The big advantage is when you pull the stroller up the curb with a short tug. This is very easy, even with older children sitting on the stroller.

Conversely, the handcart can be lowered on the curb. The robust construction also makes it easy to drive down the curb. There is a jolt, but tests have shown that children find this type of obstacle-overcoming more fun. The powerful impact does not pass through the frame construction. The impact energy is absorbed by the axle via the double strut (3), which is positioned vertically above the axle. Using appropriate wheels creates a suspension effect.

In a steel construction, a spring element could be used, such as that used in bicycles.

The cart is pulled like a "handcart", which corresponds to the normal driving position (Figure 3). By pushing the handcart, you achieve excellent maneuverability, especially in narrow and winding places (e.g. shops, towns / pedestrian areas), which allows you to turn on the spot. The easy handling will be described in more detail here. The frame of the wooden handcart is held together only by carriage bolts. These provide the necessary stability and at the same time form the hinge points for the folding construction. By loosening screw A, the drawbar can be

The lower part of the support is turned towards the axle, which then folds it to a height of approx. 25 cm (Figure 2). By removing the wheels, the construction becomes even flatter. With a length of just under a meter in the folded position, the stroller fits sideways into almost any trunk. Looking at the axle construction, the wooden construction has a width of just under 10 cm at the folded struts.

By completely dismantling the car (approx. 5 minutes work), the car can be dismantled into its individual parts so that the individual parts can be stored flat on the trunk floor, for example, which creates an even greater space advantage.

Another example is a steel or aluminum construction of the handcart. By using tubes and forks at the joint points, the supporting double strut can be dispensed with, in contrast to the wooden construction.

If a tube of a thickness that is also used for bicycle frames of a conventional design is used, a commercially available child seat can be used instead of the seat. The prerequisite is that the seat holder attached to the tube can be adjusted in its angle. This means that even smaller children can be transported safely. As

For better tipping protection, a small axle that holds two rollers can be installed on the parking support (5) instead of the single roller.

There are many more advantages to this design. The handcart can also be turned into a luxury vehicle through structural changes (material, attachments, comfort elements (suspension)). Ultimately, however, that is not what it is intended to be. The invention is more likely to be inexpensive, easy to handle and, above all, space-saving. The price must remain reasonable, as the potential buyers of the invention usually already have a fairly large fleet of vehicles, starting with a stroller and ending with a child's bike. People are then no longer prepared to invest "huge sums" in a fourth or sixth vehicle (however many).

5 Safety notice

Just as you shouldn't put a child in a bicycle seat and then leave it alone (the bike is guaranteed to tip over sooner or later, along with the child), you shouldn't let a child climb around in and on the stroller (the brake, if applied, will come loose and the stroller and child will roll onto the street), the invention isn't suitable for children to play with unsupervised. The handcart must be held before the child gets on (like a horse) and should only be operated by adults.

Claims (2)

1. Single-axle handcart for transporting children with fixed drawbar and seat, having the following characteristics: - Rigid transverse axle with solid rubber or pneumatic tires - Frame with seat arranged above the axle, parking support ( 5 ), footrest and a drawbar ( 1 ) positioned horizontally along the frame ( 2 ). (see Fig. 1) - Frame can be folded or dismantled in a few easy steps to save space when storing the handcart. (see Fig. 2) 2.
