Stocking according to claim 1 and one or more of the following claims, characterized in that the elastic thread (1) of the left wales (7), which is shot in in the upper edge, as is known per se, is caught and inserted into this, in the case of the right wales (3 , 4, 5, 6) is included, and that the elastic thread in the stocking following the edge (A) is present in greater quantity than in the lower leg area, in which its quantity decreases up to the heel (E).

3. Stocking according to claims 1 or 2, characterized in that the tension of the elastic thread on part of the lower length of the stocking up to the heel reinforcement is stronger than in the adjoining part of the stocking.

A method for knitting stockings according to claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the elastic thread (1) shot in the upper edge, as is known per se, caught when knitting the left wales (7) and inserted into them and with the right wales (3, 4, 5, 6) and that the elastic thread is supplied in large quantities after the end of the knitting of the edge (A) so that it is gradually less supplied when knitting the lower leg until the high heel (E) begins and the elastic thread is laid out.

5. The method according to claim 4, characterized in that the second system is laid out in the region of the shackles (D) and the elastic thread is thereby processed in each row of stitches.

Two-system cylinder knitting machine for performing the method according to claim 4, characterized by a main delivery mechanism (50) with stepless adjustment of the yarn delivery quantity and a delivery mechanism (30-41) for relaxing the thread (51) and needles with a separate selector control foot (12) for integrating the elastic thread into the right, preferably left, stitch wales.

7. Machine according to claim 6, characterized in that the main delivery mechanism (50), as is known per se in delivery mechanisms, consists of a friction disk (51) and a transport roller running on this

(52) and that the transport roller, which is movable between an adjustable stop (54) to limit the fixed thread position and the edge of the friction disc (51), can be adjusted by an eccentric.

8. Machine according to claim 7, characterized in that the position of the edge of the friction disc (50) is adjustable.

9. Machine according to claims 6 and 7, characterized in that the adjustments are made with the aid of Bowden cables (53, 56) which lead to the eccentrics.
