Gegenüber den ölhaltigen Zubereitungen, die Konsistenz und Transparenz einer verdünnten Mayonnaise aufweisen und je nach Geschmacksrichtung als French oder Italian Dressings bezeichnet werden. Gegenüber mayonnaiseähnlichen Salatsaucen werden von vielen Verbrauchern wegen des geringeren Kaloriengehaltes transparente Salatsaucen bevorzugt.
