Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a liquid and storage-stable agent for the wet finishing of leather, which is a one-bath, simultaneous retanning, greasing and other finishing of Leather allows.
The wet finishing of leather involves several operations. With the neutralization through the use of alkaline, inorganic or organic salts of regulates the pH value required for the further processes. The fat is through the one bring more greasy, reducing the friction between the structural elements of the leather Substances responsible for the softness of the leather. Finally, with the night tanning with vegetable, mineral or synthetic tannins u. a. Ledercha character, fullness and scar resistance set. These operations are carried out one after the other partly carried out separate baths. The current state of development is e.g. B. by Magerkurt, B .: "Current aspects and state of the art in the area of wet wet direction and preparation ", in: Das Leder H.1, 1996, pp. 7-14 and in" Bibliothek des Leders ", Volume 3, Faber, K., "Tanning agents, tanning and retanning" (Umschau Verlag, Frankfurt am Main 1984) and Volume 4 Hollstein, M., "Degreasing, greasing and waterproofing at Leather production "(Umschau Verlag, Frankfurt am Main 1987).
So beschreibt z. In order to achieve a rational way of working, there was no lack of attempts, individual or to combine all sub-processes in one work step. For example, B. wax mann, H. in: Das Leder, H.6, 1981, pp. 109-112, a compact way of working in which everyone Work steps in a bathroom, but still in sequence with a large number of different products. Wachsmann also points out that difficulties that arise, namely the compatibility of the products used. In fact, the main problem is that the necessary for these sub-processes Products are not miscible with each other and more relevant to the application during manufacture Emulsions are not stable and separate into their components or even a mutual cause precipitation. So far, it has also been possible to use conventional emulsifiers no stable, liquid preparations which also result in stable emulsions become.
H. the required components must, for. B. spray drying under be pulled to achieve a stable shape. The instability of liquid accessories riding is expressly pointed out. Even when making a minimum eight-fold dilution, as is usually the case with these preparations long, there are no stable emulsions in which the micelles are both tannins and also contain lipid molecules. This is only temporary by applying To achieve ultrasound. Ultrasound treatment shortly before use emulsions is complex and is available to users of these products Usually not available.
Solid products have some serious disadvantages. Manufacturing requires a high energy expenditure due to the fact that only dissolved, liquid products can apply, d. H. that all solids before or during treatment must be dissolved, does not appear justified. Handling and dosage require more effort. Dosing devices for powder products are in the leather operated usually not available, so the required large quantities per They would have to be dosed by hand: the leather factories are equipped with dosing systems for liquids however equipped. Salts, such as. B. sodium sulfate sets that pollute the environment, but do not have a positive application effect Zen. On the contrary, negative influences can even be exerted on the leather. So it is possible that due to the high salt concentration the important quality parameters the washable inorganic compounds (DIN 53307) is exceeded, vas in turn can lead to salt rashes on the leather or additional water needing washing processes.
It was therefore the task to find a remedy that is both tanning and has greasy and pH regulating properties and at room temperature is in liquid and storage-stable form. When diluted with water, one should stable emulsion are formed, in which the micelles contain both tannin and lipid contain telmolecules. The means must therefore a compact way of working in the wet tung, d. H. at least the neutralization, retanning and greasing operations in one Enable step. The agent must therefore be used as a fatliquor, retanning component substances and pH-regulating substances as well as, if necessary, also other Additives included.
Surprisingly, it has now been found that when using fatliquor on the Basis of natural or synthetic unsaturated fats, oils or waxes, which before subjected to further chemical implementation of an oxidative treatment, stabi le, liquid mixtures with tannins and pH-regulating substances hold, which form completely stable emulsions when further diluted with water.

B. Wasserstoffperoxid, erfolgen. The oxidative treatment according to the invention of the unsaturated fat, oil and wax Starting materials must be made in such a way that an iodine number decrease by at least at least 20 units, but preferably around 30-40 units. The Oxidation by introducing atmospheric oxygen at temperatures between 70 and 120 ° C, or by suitable oxidizing agents, such as. B. hydrogen peroxide.
Following the oxidation process, the further chemical conversion to Fatliquor in a known manner, e.g. B. by sulfation, sulfochlorination, phosphatie tion, ethoxylation, amidation or preparation of the corresponding sulfosuccinates, with with the aim of making the water-insoluble fats, oils and waxes water-emulsifiable.
All natural or synthetic fats form the basis for the fatliquor component, Oils and waxes that have sufficient unsaturated bonds so that they are accessible to an oxidation process. From the large number of possible raw materials May be mentioned as examples of fat components of natural origin: fish oils, Rape oil, soybean oil, lecithin and many others. Fat components of synthetic origin are z. B. polyunsaturated hydrocarbons with a chain length <C12, unsung saturated fatty alcohols with a chain length <C12, unsaturated fatty acids with a ket length <C12 or unsaturated fatty acid esters.
B. Glyoxalsäure in Betracht. The known vegetable and synthetic tanning agents come in as retanning agents Consideration. Vegetable tannins are extracts from plants or Parts of plants (e.g. bark, fruit, wood, roots), the pyrogallol or pyrocatechol or their derivatives included. The synthetic tanning agents are e.g. B. um Condensation products of formaldehyde with aromatic compounds that are given may also be in their sulfonated form. The condensation products can in the form of free sulfonic acid or its lithium, sodium, potassium or ammo nium salt can be processed further. Furthermore, condensation products of the form come aldehydes with nitrogen bases such as As urea, melamine, thiourea and dicyandiamide as a tannin component. To the synthetic tanning agents are still To calculate polymer tanning agents, the water-soluble polymers based on acrylate, poly represent urethane or polybutadiene. Furthermore come aldehydic tannins such. B. Glutaric, acetaldehyde and propionaldehyde or other aliphatic aldehydes, but also alde hydcarboxylic acids such as B. glyoxylic acid into consideration. A detailed description and Description of the possible vegetable and synthetic tanning agents follows Kurt Faber's "Tanning agents, tanning and retanning" from the "Library" series des Leders ", Volume 3 (Umschau Verlag, Frankfurt 1985).
Examples of substances regulating pH are: alkaline earth oxides, alkali and alkaline earth metal hydroxides, ammonium compounds and other alkaline reactants organic and organic salts.

Substances are to be understood as optional further components which do not necessarily have to be constituents of the agent according to the invention, but in individual cases can be a necessary component for the formulation. These include e.g. B. solvents such as alcohols or hydrocarbons, preservatives, antioxidants, agents such as urea or common salt, viscosity regulators such. B. mineral oils of different viscosity, etc. The agent according to the invention accordingly contains the following components:
- a) Fettungsmittel 10-90%, vorzugsweise 20-80%a) fatliquor 10-90%, preferably 20-80%
- b) Gerbstoff 10-90%, vorzugsweise 20-80%b) tanning agent 10-90%, preferably 20-80%
- c) pH-Wert-regulierende Substanzen 1-30% und gegebenenfallsc) pH regulating substances 1-30% and if necessary
The components are stirred, e.g. B. in a stirred reactor at temperatures between 20 and 90 ° C, preferably at temperatures between 30 and 60 ° C, ver mixes and homogenizes. The design of the agitators is not special Requirements. Completely stable, clear, liquid products are created. The La ger stability is both at low temperatures, e.g. B. to -30 ° C, as well as at high Temperatures, e.g. B. up to 60 ° C, guaranteed.
Die Prozeßtemperaturen betragen 20-60°C, vorzugsweise 30-50°C.The formulations are simplified by using the agent according to the invention considerable for the wet finishing of the leather. After washing the leather to fold To remove chips and possible dirt, the leather will have a water volume of 20-200%, preferably 50 to 150% (based on the fold weight) and 5-30%, preferably 10-25%, of the agent according to the invention added. As a rule, the fiction medium pre-emulsified with four to eight times the amount of water. This creates one completely stable, opaque emulsion, the micelles of which are both tannins and fatty acids molecules included. These emulsions are stable for a long time without a door into the components. But it is also a direct dosage without the previous one production of an emulsion possible. The process temperatures are 20-60 ° C, preferably 30-50 ° C.
After a treatment time of 1-4 hours, preferably 2-3 hours, with organic Acids are adjusted to a pH of 3.5-3.8, and the leathers are finished in the normal manner posed. The coloring of the leather can be done either by adding dye during the above process or in a subsequent additional work step gene.
With the agent according to the invention, practically all types of leather, such as. B. furniture leather, Car upholstery leather, leather for shoe manufacture, clothing leather but also technical Leather are made. Depending on the requirements of the leather to be produced, the The composition of the agent according to the invention can be varied. So z. B. for firmer, more permanent types of leather a higher tannin and a lower fat content conducive. For soft types of leather, the proportion of fat and grease dominates. Also the type of components entering the product naturally has an influence on the Le the character of the resulting leather. Have such variations in composition on the stability properties of the agents according to the invention and their emulsions a negative influence.
The use of the liquid agent according to the invention offers the user a Variety of advantages. Only one product is required for wet dressing can be stored in the tank and dosed automatically. This offers both logistical and also cost advantages.
