Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the field of cleaning exhaust gas streams of internal combustion engines. In particular, the invention relates to a Filters for removing soot and ash particles from the exhaust gas flow of a diesel engine (diesel particle filter) with one in a filter housing used filter body from individual in the main flow direction of the Exhaust gas stream arranged one behind the other, forming filter bags Fil terplatten.
Diesel particulate filters are incorporated into the exhaust gas flow from diesel engines sets to ent from the exhaust gas flow through the combustion process soot and ash particles due to a deposit on the filter remove the surface of the filter body. With increasing particle coating the flow resistance of the fil increases ters and thus the exhaust back pressure. For this reason, it is required Lich to remove these deposits from the filter at intervals. The soot particles deposited on the filter surface can be caused Ren of a soot burnup are removed, such a soot burnup either automatically by the temperature of the exhaust gas or by too additional burner devices is triggered. To reduce the Ignition temperature of the soot par arising in the combustion process The additive can reduce the ignition point of the fuel be mixed. However, this has the consequence that the proportion of ash in the Ab gas flow due to the additives to be used by the combustion is high. When the filter cleans soot, the soot particles on the filter surface are eliminated, a removal of the non-combustible ash particle filter from the filter surfaces is through a such a cleaning process is not possible. Even those on the filter surface Accumulated ash particles increase with the operating time of the Diesel engine the flow resistance. Diesel particle filter must therefore also be freed from the ash particles at intervals. To the Its purpose is to use a washing process in which the Exhaust system of a motor vehicle removed filter body for removal the ash particles are washed. Such purification from For this reason, diesel particle filters have a not inconsiderable one Effort.
Ausgehend von diesem diskutierten Stand der Technik liegt der Erfindung daher die Aufgabe zugrunde, einen Dieselpartikelfilter der eingangs ge nannten Art dergestalt weiterzubilden, daß dieser auf bedeutend einfache re Weise gereinigt werden kann. The invention lies on the basis of this prior art discussed therefore the task is based on a diesel particulate filter of the beginning mentioned type in such a way that this on significantly simple re way can be cleaned.
This object is achieved in that the filter body is flowed through by the unpurified exhaust gas flow such that the Main flow direction in the area of the filter body in the radial direction runs from the outside to the inside and the cleaned exhaust gas flow from the Inside the filter body is provided flowing out, and that Filter housing one closed with a releasable closure Outlet in the area of its deepest for emptying of the soot and / or ash particles flowed down the filter plate sides points.
The diesel particle filter according to the invention is based on a filter body order, which is due to the unpurified exhaust gas flow flows that the main flow direction in the area of the filter body in radial direction from the outside to the inside. Thus, they are stored in the Exhaust gas flow carried particles - soot and ash - on the outside of the filter body. A cleaning of the filter body from the stick the soot particles are produced in a conventional manner soot burn. The outside flow against the filter body However, has the particular advantage in the context of the invention that as a result the vibrations that inevitably occur when operating the diesel engine soot particles from the filter body, but especially ash particles fall down. These collect in the deepest part of the filter housing. To the Empty the filter housing from these ash particle accumulations an outlet is provided in the area of the deepest in the filter housing, the is closed with a releasable closure means. In predetermined The accumulated ash particles can be spaced apart without great effort he can be removed from the filter housing in that the closure medium open and the diesel engine to generate a cleaning stream mes is started. The ash particles accumulated in the deepest who which then automatically blown out through the outlet. Is also possible a continuous or discontinuous bypass, so that the Ash is automatically blown out of the ash pan. This is possible if only a small amount of solids escape through the small bypass Chen that the exhaust gas limit value with regard to the particle emission is not is exceeded.
Bei dem Dieselpartikelfilter gemäß der Erfindung wird die vibrationsbe dingte Selbstbefreiung des Filterkörpers von anhaftenden Partikeln aus genutzt, um die vom Filterkörper abgefallenen Aschepartikel aus dem Fil tergehäuse entfernen zu können. In the diesel particulate filter according to the invention, the vibration mandatory self-liberation of the filter body from adhering particles used to remove the ash particles from the fil to be able to remove the housing.
To extend the emptying intervals is at a preferred off Design provided, the filter housing a particle collection container assign in which a certain amount of soot and / or ash particles can be accumulated without essential parts of these particles an operation of the diesel engine whirled up and again on the Can deposit filter surfaces. The filter container is expedient Part of the filter housing and tapered towards the bottom of the filter housing educated. The soot and ash particles falling off the filter body fall len due to gravity in the particle collection container and can from this by opening the expediently in the deepest part of the particle can be blown out of the container. In this context, the rejuvenated formation of one Particle collection container that no major flow shadows ten when blowing out the soot and / or ash particles. For improved separation of the particle collection container from the filter Space of the filter housing can also be provided that the particle Collecting container through a sieve-like, the soot and ash particles permeable cover, for example a grid is separated.
In dem Partikelsammelbehältnis kann ein Heizstift, etwa eine Glühkerze eingesetzt sein, damit in Zeitabständen auch in dem Partikelsammelbe hältnis ein Rußabbrand zum Reduzieren der in dem Partikelbehältnis be findlichen Partikelmenge herbeigeführt werden kann.A heating pin, such as a glow plug, can be placed in the particle collection container be used, so that at intervals also in the particle collection Ratnis a soot burnup to reduce the be in the particle container sensitive amount of particles can be brought about.
Weitere Vorteile der Erfindung sowie Ausgestaltungen sind Bestandteil der übrigen Unteransprüche sowie der nachfolgenden Beschreibung eines Ausführungsbeispieles unter Bezugnahme auf die beigefügte Fig. 1, die in einem schematisierten Längsschnitt einen Dieselpartikelfilter zeigt.Further advantages of the invention and refinements are part of the remaining subclaims and the following description of an exemplary embodiment with reference to the attached FIG. 1, which shows a diesel particle filter in a schematic longitudinal section.
A diesel particulate filter 1 is turned on in the exhaust gas flow of a diesel engine not shown in detail. The main direction of flow of the gas is indicated by arrow 2 . The diesel particulate filter 1 comprises a filter body 3 constructed from individual filter plates F, which is arranged in a filter housing 4 . The main flow direction of the exhaust gas flow in the area of the filter body 3 is provided radially from the outside inwards. On the inside, the filter pockets formed by the filter plates F are connected to an exhaust pipe 5 for discharging the cleaned exhaust gas.
In the area of the deepest of the filter housing 4 , a particle collection ratio 6 is arranged as part of the filter housing 4 . The particle collection ratio 6 extends over the entire length of the filter housing 4 and is thus below the filter body 3rd In the course of inevitable vibrations of the diesel particulate filter 1 and thus also the Fil terkörpers 3 during operation of the diesel engine falling on the filter surface of the filter plates F adhering soot and ash particles solved by the Vibratio NEN from gravity. These falling particles are caught by the particle collecting container 6 . The particle collecting container 6 is tapered towards the bottom and in the region of its lowest point by a closure screw closing an outlet 7 closed. For better separation of the particle collection container 6 from the filter space in which the filter body 3 is located, the particle collection container 6 is bordered on the top by a fine grid 8 be. The mesh size of the lattice 8 is sufficient that falling soot and ash particles can fall through the lattice mesh into the particle collecting container 6 . The particles 6 , in particular ash, which are accumulated in the particle collector, are also largely protected by the grille 8 from being whirled up again when the sel motor is operated by the exhaust gas flow entering the filter space.
In dem Partikelsammelbehältnis 6 ist ferner eine Glühkerze 9 angeordnet, die in bestimmten Zeitabständen eingeschaltet wird, um die in dem Parti kelsammelbehältnis 6 angesammelten Rußpartikel abbrennen zu können. Das Abbrennen der Rußpartikel in dem Partikelsammelbehältnis 6 führt zu einer Beseitigung der Rußpartikel, so daß die Aufnahmekapazität für an fallende Aschepartikel vergrößert ist.In the particle collection container 6 , a glow plug 9 is also arranged, which is switched on at certain time intervals in order to burn off the soot particles accumulated in the particle collection container 6 . The burning off of the soot particles in the particle collecting container 6 leads to an elimination of the soot particles, so that the absorption capacity for ash particles falling is increased.
Das Partikelsammelbehältnis 6 kann durch Aufschrauben der Verschluß schraube 7 entleert werden, wobei nach einem Entfernen der Verschluß schraube 7 die Aschepartikel quasi von selbst herausrutschen. Zur Unter stützung des Entleerungsprozesses kann der Dieselmotor eingeschaltet werden, so daß der in den Filterraum eintretende Abgasstrom zusätzlich zum Herausfördern der Aschepartikel dient. The particle collection container 6 can be emptied by unscrewing the screw plug 7 , with the ash particles virtually slipping out by themselves after removal of the screw plug 7 . To support the emptying process, the diesel engine can be switched on, so that the exhaust gas stream entering the filter space also serves to convey out the ash particles.
From the description of the invention it is clear that it is essential to Verwirkli chung the invention that the housing of the diesel particle filter has an outlet sealed with a closure means through which accumulated ash particles can be removed from the filter housing. In addition, it is advantageous to provide a trap for the ash particles, as provided, for example, by the particle collection container 6 , in which ash particles which have fallen off the filter surfaces can be collected without them again being operated by the exhaust gas flowing into the filter chamber during operation of the sel motor whirled up and fed to the filter surfaces.
Der erfindungsgemäße Dieselpartikelfilter kann mit einer Brennereinrich tung zum Zuführen von Heizgas zum Auslösen eines Rußabbrandes des Filterkörpers ausgestattet sein. The diesel particulate filter according to the invention can be equipped with a burner device device for supplying heating gas to trigger a soot burn-off Be equipped filter body.
