Bei einer Ausbildung eines Backofens gemäß der Erfindung kann die Muffelfrontwandung mit den Seitenwandabschnitten einstöckig nach außen über die Gerätegehäuseaußenkanten hinaus bis in den Bereich zogen werden, der im Einbauzustand des Backofens vor der betreffenden Stirnfläche einer Einbaumöbel-Seitenwand zu liegen kommt. Der betreffende Seitenwandabschnitt braucht dabei nur eine glatte äußere Schnittkante aufzuweisen, die zur Vermeidung einer Verletzungsgefahr nicht nachbearbeitet werden muß, weil der Schnittkante jeweils eine im Querschnitt U-förmige Profilleiste zugeordnet wird, welche die Schnittkante gegen manuellen Zugriff überdeckt, wobei die Nutöffnung der Profilleiste zu der die Zugrifföffnung aufnehmenden Ebene hinweist, während ihre geschlossene, insbesondere gerundete Seite, dem Benutzer des Backofens zugewandt ist. Die Schenkel der U-förmigen Profilleiste weisen somit zum betreffenden Seitenwandabschnitt hin und sind damit dem Zugriff des Benutzers entzogen, wodurch auch in diesem Bereich keine Verletzungsgefahr gegeben ist. Die Profilleiste wird dabei vorzugsweise mit einem verlängerten Schenkel ausgebildet, der außenseitig an der Schnittkante des Seitenwandabschnitts vorbei läuft und der zumindest kurz hinter dem betreffenden Seitenwandabschnitt nach innen abgewinkelt ist, so daß der betreffende abgewinkelte Steg unmittelbar bei Draufsicht auf die Seitenwandabschnitte hinter dieselben greift. Der kürzere Schenkel der insbesondere aus Blech gebogenen Profilleiste ist vom verlängerten Schenkel aus um 180° zurückgebogen, so daß er zu dem benachbarten Seitenrand senkrecht auf denselben zuläuft und ihm stumpf gegenüber steht. Dabei ist der der jeweiligen Profilleiste zugeordnete Randbereich des betreffenden Seitenwandabschnittes von der die Zugrifföffnung aufnehmenden Ebene weg abgewinkelt und greift in die Nutöffnung der Profilleiste ein. Dadurch ist zum einen der betreffende Randbereich mechanisch versteift und zum anderen sichergestellt, daß die freie Schnittkante des Seitenwandabschnittes auf jeden Fall von der Profilleiste gegen Zugriff abgedeckt ist. Dabei ist es zweckmäßig, zwischen die freie Kante des kürzeren Schenkels und die gegenüberliegende Frontfläche des betreffenden Seitenwandabschnittes eine Dichtung einzufügen, die vorzugsweise auf den kürzeren Schenkel der Profilleiste aufgesteckt ist und einen dichten Abschluß gegenüber dem jeweiligen Seitenwandabschnitt bewirkt. Der verlängerte, den Seitenwandabschnitt hintergreifende Schenkel weist anschließend an den abgewinkelten Steg einen nochmals zum Gerätegehäuse des Backofens hin abgewinkelten Halteschenkel auf, mit dem die Profilleiste am Gerätegehäuse gehalten ist.
