Description
The invention relates to a connector for optical fibers with a Connector housing is inserted at one end and a fiber optic cable emerge at the opposite end of ferrule, each in a first inner ferrule housing are encapsulated, which on its housing outside locking means carries, each with a locking counter element of a male counter-coupling cooperate and the inner Individual ferrule housings each captured in an outer ferrule individual housing and within it is relatively movable in the axial direction, which bewe is coupled in the connector housing and has means with which the interlock between the inner ferrule and the Locking counter element of the plug counter coupling by axial displacement of the outer single ferrule housing against the inner single ferrule housing in Direction cable entry is detachable, being between fiber optic cable and inner ferrule single housing a motion-coupled connection is formed, according to the preamble of claim 1.
Plugs of the type mentioned improve security against unwanted removal of the plug due to improper handling. It has However, it has been shown that the release mechanism can also be solved by this can, if the fiber optic cable itself is pulled hard. This pulling effect leads due to a frictional or non-positive connection between the plug housing, cable and outer ferrule housing for a relative movement between the outer ferrule housing and the counter coupling.
DE 93 20 829 U1 provides a connector for optical fibers become known a connector part, which has at least one connector pin has and is equipped with a socket part, which at least one Has socket for receiving the plug pin; is also a snap device with at least two radially resilient and with a pen holder connected tongues with pawls engaging the socket part for the tension-proof mounting of the connector pin in the socket. The plug part points an axially displaceable relative to the pen holder and with the pawls cooperating connector housing, whereby by pulling on the connector housing the pawls are detachable. These snap into a circumferential external groove A socket part, with expansion means for on the inner wall of the connector housing Spreading the pawls are arranged.
US 5,315,679 is a connector for optical fibers with a Become known connector housing, at one end a fiber optic cable is inserted and exit at the opposite end ferrule, the Design essentially corresponds to the generic term. The ferrule are encapsulated with a certain play in single ferrule housings, which are in turn positively inserted into the housing shells.
The invention is based on the object of a connector of the generic type Way of creating a reliable trigger guard, which accidentally cannot be pulled.
This object is achieved by the features of claim 1 solved. Further advantageous embodiments of the invention are in the Subclaims marked.
According to the invention, an inner core housing is opened in the plug housing in which the fiber optic cable on the one hand and the ferrule on the other are positively edged and which in the connector housing in the axial direction is arranged relatively displaceable. This creates a coupling of motion between the fiber optic cable and the inner ferrule housing by a indirect positive connection established. Between the fiber optic cable and the inner single ferrule housing is therefore advantageous to move Coupled connection formed, which advantageously an additional housing can be. This ensures that the train on the fiber optic cable Movement sequence of the connector parts is predetermined so that the release mechanism between the outer ferrule housing and the locking elements of the Plug counter coupling can not come into effect. This is supported Characteristic in that the movement distance in the outer ferrule single housing for the inner ferrule, which is axially displaceable housing is equal to or less than the movement distance in the connector housing for the core housing accommodated therein and axially displaceable therein.
In an advantageous manner, the plug can only be pulled on the plug housing be solved. With a pull on the cable, provided normal pulling forces, remains the plug locks and cannot be opened. The coupling of movements can preferably by both positive and friction measures are implemented.
The inner core housing is expediently at least in chambers partial positive connection of the fiber optic cable and the ferrule divided. Another useful embodiment provides that one of the Chambers is arranged on the face of the inner core housing and this Chamber that from the end of the fiber optic cable inserted into the connector emerging individual fibers takes up, with their free ends to the Ferrule connected and surrounded by a crimp ring, each one chamber-side collar, which in turn has a clutch-side end wall of the inner core housing. This is the form fit with the Ferrule and the inner single ferrule housing manufactured, especially the ferrule is encapsulated even axially immobile in the inner ferrule housing. For this is the chamber end wall penetrated by ferrule outlet openings, which in the Cross section dimensioned smaller than the collar of the respective ferrule crimp ring are. The intermediate and inside the inner core Partitions are conveniently with openings for the cable or provided the individual fibers.
The collar of a cable crimp insert is in one of the chambers formed added. Here the chamber depth is based on the cable crimp insert thickness designed that this with no time or distance delay with the chamber is motion-coupled, that is, without any slip, positively with the inner Core housing is connected. About this form fit the essential tractive effort initiated, with the other receiving points for the cable parts contribute to power transmission. In the area of the cable crimp sleeve no positive fit is produced in this embodiment. Another Force can be applied by referring to the latter Chamber in the direction of the cable insertion end, that of an intermediate wall on one and of a rear wall on the limited on the other side and in the one collar of a cable kink protection is recorded. To create appropriate paragraphs and head start with which are to be made to limit the movement of the core housing are Chambers arranged one after the other in steps. Through the described Refinements, the inner core housing is axially displaceable in the Plug housing added, under the axial direction designation a linear movement in the axis between cable entry and Ferrule outlet side of the connector is understood. The connector housing in which the core housing is accommodated in the manner described has one Shaft in which the core housing is inserted with the corresponding axial play. To counteract according to the paragraphs of the core housing counteracting The shaft can be created with steps in a row arranged individual subjects trained. The axial length of a manhole part is expediently dimensioned larger than the axial external dimensions of the in this area accommodated chamber of the inner core housing. In both Axial directions of movement are travel limits for in the connector housing the core housing provided. The connector housing has on his coupling-side end of a double shaft, in which two side by side arranged ferrule are included. The ferrule, especially the outer one Housing parts of the ferrule are motion-coupled to the connector housing, a positive connection is most appropriate. The housing parts are preferably formed from half-shells, which is also expedient applies to an attachment with which the connector housing can be adapted.
A preferred embodiment of the invention provides that this essay is equipped with retention aids that match the inner core housing can be clipped or hooked. The essay does that Core housing movement and covers the connector housing before access. Otherwise, further expedient embodiments of the invention are in the Subclaims specified.

FIGS. 7 to 9 show the lower housing shell portion of the inner core housing 24. The upper part is essentially of the same design. The inner core housing 24 is advantageously divided into chambers 25 , 26 , 27 and 28 . The end chamber part 28 is rectangular and is delimited in the axial direction by the end wall 29 and the chamber wall 38 , and laterally by the outer walls 75 , 76 . Snap hooks 77 , 78 , 79 are arranged on the edge sides, which engage with corresponding counterparts of the upper part of the housing and hold the two housing shells together. The chamber 28 is adjoined by a further narrower and narrower chamber 27 , which is closed all around by the chamber wall 38 , by the partition 40 offset parallel thereto and by the side walls 86 , 87 . A third chamber 26 adjoins the chamber 27 in the direction of the cable entry end. This chamber 26 is also designed to be closed and defines its axial extent in the axial direction on the one hand from the partition 40 and on the other hand from an intermediate wall 44 which delimits the chamber 26 from an end chamber 25 . The housing flanks are closed by the side walls 55 56, on the outer sides of which retention elements 53 , 54 are arranged, the modes of operation of which will be discussed in more detail below. Further snap hooks 88 , 89 are positioned on the inside of the chamber, which also engage with corresponding counter-elements of the upper housing shell.
The end chamber 25 is delimited both by the side walls 55 , 56 and by the intermediate wall 44 and the rear wall 46 . While the chambers 26 and 25 have the same width, the chambers 28 , 27 and 26 are arranged one after the other in steps, so that paragraphs 51 , 52 are formed in their transition regions. These paragraphs are used at least in part as stops that meet corresponding counter surfaces in the connector housing. The rear wall 46 , intermediate wall 44 , partition 40 and the chamber wall 38 are penetrated by coaxially aligned openings 49 , 50 , 41 , 39 through which cables and cable parts are passed. In the end wall 29 , two openings 34 , 35 are provided through which the ferrules emerge.
In Figs. 10 to 12, the plug housing 2 is reproduced. The essential division of the connector housing 2 results on the one hand from the shaft 59 which largely has an inner shape according to the outer contour of the core housing 24 ( FIG. 7) and the double shaft 63 , 64 in which the outer ferrule individual housings are accommodated. The shaft 59 is divided into two compartments 60 , 61 arranged one behind the other, between which a shoulder 62 is formed, in that the compartment 61 is made narrower than the compartment 60 in front of it. At the rear end 3 , the connector housing 2 is open. Snap hooks 94 , 95 , 96 , 97 are arranged between the double walls 90 , 91 and 92 , 93 which laterally delimit the compartment 61 in order to hold the upper housing part to be attached. The separation between the shaft 59 and the coupling-side double shaft 63 , 64 consists of webs 71 , 72 , 73 oriented transversely to the side walls 98 , 99 . In order to give the outer ferrule individual housings to be used a guide, two lugs 74 , 74 , which are aligned parallel to the side walls and are aligned with the edges 106 , 107 of a cross bar 108 , are arranged on the web 72 . At the front ends of the walls 98 , 99 projecting lugs 109 , 110 protrude in the direction of the crosspiece 108 , which engage behind the outer ferrule housing. After the plug housing 2 is closed with its upper housing part by adaptation, two outlet openings 111 , 112 remain on the end face. To release the connector housing 2 from the coupling, recessed grips 113 , 114 are provided in the side walls.
The main features here are the retaining means 67 , 68 on the inside 66 of the rear wall 82 toward the coupling side in the form of resilient arms which carry hooks 69 , 70 at their free ends which engage behind the retention means on the outside of the inner core housing. The rear wall 82 is penetrated by a cable opening 83 , on both sides of which a tool insertion opening 84 , 85 is arranged, which are positioned approximately at the housing height of the retaining means 67 , 68 .
In Figs. 1 to 6, the assembled plug parts with each other are shown. As is apparent especially from FIG. 1, the ferrule 6, 7 and the inner individual housing 8, 9 in which the ferrule 6, 7 are locked encapsulated with the connector counter-coupling 16. This is done by engaging behind the locking means 12, 13 on the side walls 10, 11 of the respective inner Ferruleeinzelgehäuses 8, 9 through the constructed in the form of hook-shaped fingers locking elements 14, 15 of the connector counter-coupling sixteenth The inner ferrule individual housings 8 , 9 are accommodated in the outer ferrule outer housings 17 , 18 in a relatively movable manner in the axial direction. The side walls of the housing 17 , 18 are open in the area of the cooperating locking means 12 , 13 and 14 , 15 , so that the clasp-shaped part 16 ¥ of the plug counter-coupling with its fingers 14 , 15, the locking means 12 , 13 on the outer sides 10 , 11 of the inner ferrule housing 8 , 9 can reach behind. The outer single ferrule housing 17 , 18 carry unlocking means 19 , 20 in the form of wedge-shaped ramps whose tips slide under the noses 113 , 114 arranged on both housings when housing 2 by train on the plug with which the outer single ferrule housing 17 , 18 are coupled in motion , these are pulled backwards, ie away from the coupling 16 . This function is still guaranteed according to the invention.
However, if the fiber optic cable 4 is improperly pulled, a train protection device comes into effect, the essence of which is explained below. The light guide cable 4 is inserted into the connector 1 and only connected to the inner core housing 24 in a motion-coupled manner. Within the scope of this invention, it is also possible to create a frictional connection between the functional parts, but a positive connection proves to be very expedient. The cable end is equipped with a kink protection 48 in the insertion area, which is received with its collar 47 in the chamber 25 . In accordance with the chamber depth and collar thickness, there is already a first movement-coupled connection 21 . The cable crimping sleeve 45 is accommodated in the chamber 26 , the crimping sleeve 43 of the collar 42 being received in a form-fitting manner in the chamber 27 . For this purpose, the openings 41 and 39 in the walls 40 and 38 are dimensioned just as small in relation to the collar 42 as the openings 49 and 50 in the walls 44 and 46 with respect to the collar 47 accommodated therein. The individual fibers 36 , 37 emerge from the crimp sleeve 43 and are looped through the chamber 28 and connected to the ferrules 6 , 7 . With their collar 30 , 31, the crimp rings 32 , 33 engage behind the end wall 29 and protrude through the openings 34 , 35 in the direction of the coupling. If a pull is now exerted on the optical fiber cable 4 , this pulling force is transmitted via the inner core housing 24 to the inner ferrule individual housings 8 , 9 . A relative movement between the outer ferrule housing 17 , 18 and the inner ferrule housing 8 , 9 , which otherwise causes the release mechanism, is thereby excluded.
As is apparent especially from FIG. 3, the cable are on both sides of through-opening 83 in the rear wall 82 of the cap 81 openings 84, arranged 85, through which the pins 221, 222 of an unlocking tool can be introduced into the plug interior 220th When the pins 221 , 222 are inserted, the resilient arms 67 , 68 are pushed outward, so that the hooks 69 , 70 are separated from the wedge-shaped lugs 53 , 54 on the outer sides of the inner core housing 24 .
Figs. 16 to 20 show a second variant of the invention, the individual components have the same function as the properties of the first variant.
Fig. 18 shows the lower housing shell portion of the inner core housing 124. In this variant, too, the upper part is essentially of the same design. The inner core housing 124 is preferably divided into chambers 125 , 126 , 127 and 128 . The end chamber part 128 is rectangular and is delimited in the axial direction by the end wall 129 and the chamber wall 138 , and laterally by the outer walls 175 , 176 . Snap hooks 177 , 178 , 179 are arranged on the edge sides, which engage with corresponding counterparts of the upper housing part and hold the two housing shells together. The chamber 128 is followed by a further narrower and also narrower chamber 127 , which is closed all around by the chamber wall 138 , further by the partition 140 offset parallel to this and the rounded side walls 186 , 187 , with locking pins 115 on the latter wall tops or troughs 116 are arranged. A third chamber 126 adjoins the chamber 127 in the direction of the cable entry end. This chamber 126 is also designed to be closed and is axially defined in the axial direction on the one hand by the partition 140 and on the other hand by an intermediate wall 144 which delimits the chamber 126 from an end chamber 125 . The housing flanks are closed by the side walls 155 , 156 , on the outer sides of which retention elements 153 (covered by the wall), 154 are arranged, the modes of operation of which will be discussed in more detail below.
Further snap hooks 188 , 189 are positioned in this chamber, which also engage with corresponding counter elements of the upper housing shell. The end chamber 125 is delimited both by the side walls 155 , 156 and also by the intermediate wall 144 and the rear wall 146 . While the chambers 126 and 125 have the same width, the chambers 128 , 127 and 126 are arranged in a step-like manner one behind the other, so that paragraphs 151 , 152 are formed in their transition regions. These paragraphs are used at least in part as stops that meet corresponding counter surfaces in the connector housing. The rear wall 146 , intermediate wall 144 , partition wall 140 and the chamber wall 138 are penetrated by openings 149 , 150 , 141 , 139 which are aligned coaxially to one another and through which cables and cable parts are passed. In the end wall 129 , two openings 134 , 135 are provided through which the ferrules emerge.
In FIG. 18, the plug housing 102 is rendered. The essential division of the connector housing 102 results on the one hand from the shaft 159 which largely has an inner shape according to the outer contour of the core housing 124 ( FIG. 19) and the double shaft 163 , 164 in which the outer ferrule individual housings are accommodated. The shaft 159 is divided into two compartments 160 , 161 arranged one behind the other, between which a shoulder 162 is formed, which is created in that arms 117 , 118 projecting obliquely inwards from the side walls. At the rear end 103 , the connector housing 102 is open. In the end section snap hooks 194 , 195 are arranged which, together with the snap hook 190 in the region of the double chamber and the pins 191 and troughs 192, hold the upper housing part to be put on. The separation between shaft 159 and the coupling-side double shaft 163 , 164 consists of lugs 171 , 172 , 173 , 174 oriented transversely to the side walls 198 , 199 . The outer ferrule individual housings are accommodated in the double chamber 163 , 164 in the same way as was already described in the first variant. After the plug housing 102 is closed with its upper housing part by adaptation, two outlet openings 211 , 212 remain on the end face. In order to detach the connector housing 2 from the coupling, gripped grip strips 213 , 214 are provided on the side walls.
FIG. 20 shows the attachment 181 , which can optionally be used to cover the connector housing 102 against access and actuation. To analogous to the first variant, it connects to the inner core housing, are on the bottom inside 166 retaining means 167, arranged in the form of raised ridges 168 that engage the retention means 153, 154 (See Fig. 18) on the housing outer sides of the inner core housing. The rear wall 182 is penetrated by a cable opening 183 , on both sides of which a tool insertion opening 184 , 185 is arranged, through which an opening tool can be inserted, the pins of which lift the webs off the wedge-shaped lugs.
In Figs. 16 and 17 assembled together connector parts are reproduced. The cable parts are not shown in these representations. However, the reference symbols used for the cable refer to the similar elements in the first variant according to FIGS. 1-15. The cable end is in turn fitted with an anti-kink protection 48 (see FIG. 1), which is received with its collar 47 ( FIG. 1) in the chamber 125 . In accordance with the chamber depth and collar thickness, there is already a first movement-coupled connection 121 . The cable crimping sleeve 45 ( FIG. 1) is received in the chamber 126 , the crimping sleeve 43 ( FIG. 1) of its collar 42 ( FIG. 1) is positively received in the chamber 127 . For this purpose, the openings 141 and 139 in the walls 140 and 138 with respect to the collar 42 ( FIG. 1) are dimensioned as small as the openings 149 and 150 in the walls 144 and 146 with respect to the collar 47 accommodated therein ( FIG. 1). The individual fibers 36 , 37 ( FIG. 1) emerge from the crimp sleeve 43 ( FIG. 1) and are looped through the chamber 128 and closed together with the ferrules 6 , 7 ( FIG. 1). The crimp rings 32 , 33 ( FIG. 1) engage behind the end wall 129 with their collar 30 , 31 ( FIG. 1) and protrude through the openings 134 , 135 in the direction of the coupling. If a pull is now exerted on the optical fiber cable 4 ( FIG. 1), this tensile force is transmitted via the inner core housing 124 to the inner ferrule individual housings 8 , 9 ( FIG. 1). A relative movement between the outer ferrule housing 17 , 18 ( FIG. 1) and the inner ferrule housing 8 , 9 ( FIG. 1), which otherwise causes the release mechanism, is thereby excluded.
In this variant, too, the train protection of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1-15 is created. The unlocking between the attachment 181 and the inner core housing 124 takes place with the tool 220 in the manner as has already been explained for FIGS. 1-15.
