Description
In recent years, windows or doors have increasingly been provided with double glass panes, which consist of two parallel individual panes arranged next to one another at a small distance. These individual panes are held together by an edging and thus form a complete unit that is inserted as a whole in the window or door. Essential for the perfect condition of this double glass pane is the edge border, which must enclose the panes in a sealing manner so that no moisture can get between the panes that can later be removed again only with difficulty or not at all.
A number of methods and arrangements are known, only the most important of which will be mentioned. During the production of the edging, the panes are expediently held at the desired spacing and the edges are immersed in a liquid, later solidifying potting compound. It is known to use cement, glass, tin, metal, putty, rubber or plastic as the casting compound. It is also known to use a strip made of a suitable material as an edging, against which the individual glass panes are glued from both sides. The bar can be designed in such a way that it is not only arranged between the two panes, but also overlaps the edges of the pane. The dipping process mentioned at the beginning has the disadvantage that the sealing compound can generally only be kept liquid at high temperatures. In addition, special measures, some of which are very complex, are required to extract moisture. In the case of individual panes of glass glued to a strip, it is known that alcohol, which is provided in a groove in the strip in the space between the panes, is caused to ignite. Such a measure is very cumbersome in terms of production technology. The known edgings also have the very great disadvantage that they are inelastic and therefore do not yield when the pane is deformed. Since the two individual panes of glass are often exposed to very different temperatures (the outer pane may have an ambient temperature of -20 ° in winter, while the inner pane is in a heated room of + 20 °), considerable stresses occur at the pane edges, which may cause the pane to burst.
The innovation relates to a double pane of glass with two parallel flat individual panes of glass, which are arranged at a small distance from one another and held together at the edge, in which the disadvantages mentioned are avoided. According to the innovation, the individual panes of glass are on all sides in the edge areas facing one another with profile strips made of glass, rubber, plastic od. When using glass strips, these are expediently ground on the panes facing the panes. The glass strips have a square cross-section and are glued to the panes so that they reach the edge. However, panes can also be glued to one another, one of which protrudes on all sides about a glass strip width over the glue point. Double glass panes with individual glass panes of different sizes can also be connected with glass strips so that both individual glass panes are glued to the glass strips up to the edge.
The double glass pane according to the invention has the advantage that it is extremely easy to manufacture, that no complicated means for generating a negative pressure are required and that when glass is used as the profile strip, the problem of the different temperature stresses on the individual glass panes is solved in a particularly expedient manner.
The innovation will be explained in more detail using several exemplary embodiments with the aid of the drawing. 1 shows a double glass pane with single glass panes of the same size, while FIGS. 2 to 4 show a double glass pane with individual glass panes of different sizes and different profiles of the glass strips.
In the arrangement of Fig. 1, two parallel, only partially shown single glass panes 1 and 2 are held together by profile strips 3 made of glass, rubber, plastic or the like, which are square in cross-section and are glued to the two sides facing the individual glass panes . Four strips are expediently used for the double glass pane. If elastic material is used, a single circumferential strip can also be used. The profile strips, the cross-sectional dimensions of which are approximately 8 to 12 mm, are filled in on both sides with the two-component adhesive and glued to the edges of the first pane of glass. The second pane is then pressed against the strips from the other side, so that a unit is formed which has an airtight seal to the outside. The edges of the double glass pane produced in this way are then clamped and heated to 80 to 180 ° C. in a chamber. Such a pane is particularly insensitive to temperature if the edge material consists of the same material as the individual glass panes. Differences in temperature can be balanced out via the glass strips so that no dangerous stresses can occur in the individual glass panes.
When using rubber, plastic or other elastic material for the profile strips, on the other hand, a better impact sensitivity is achieved. A double glass pane, which is mainly suitable for glass strips as profile strips, is shown in FIG. On one already in a window sash 5 inserted glass pane 4, the outer edge of which is covered with a cement compound 6, a smaller glass pane 7 is placed with the interposition of the glass strips 3 and glued to them in the aforementioned manner. Of course, such a double glass pane can also be produced from the outset in the manner shown in FIG. 2, i.e., the individual glass panes can be joined together before being installed in the window sash. Such a pane is then also suitable for installation in windows that have only one putty fold provided for a single window.
For panes with individual panes of different sizes, glass strips according to FIGS. 3 and 4 with an L-shaped profile or a rectangular profile can also be used. In the arrangement according to FIG. 3, glass strips 8 with an L-shaped profile are used; the individual glass panes are then glued to this profile up to the edge, so that particularly secure cohesion is ensured. The glass strips according to FIG. 4 are also completely glued to the edges of the individual panes 4 and 7. The arrangement according to FIGS. 3 and 4 can, under certain circumstances, also be used for window sashes with a putty rebate for single glazing.
The manufacturing method for such double-glazed panes has the great advantage that, as has been described with reference to FIG. 2, it can also be used with single panes already installed in the window. It can therefore be used for single glazing can be made into double glazing. As previously described, the already installed window is heated to around 80 °.
Apart from the already mentioned advantages of ease of manufacture and the temperature insensitivity of the double glass pane, it should also be mentioned that the adhesive and glass strips are transparent, so that there is no reduction in daylight at the glued areas and the glued-in glass strips therefore do not have a disruptive effect.
