Dazu gehören bestimmte Getriebeschaltkennlinien oder eine Schwungnutzautomatik (SNA), die Energie zu speichern und beim erneuten Anfahren beziehungsweise Starten der Antriebsmaschine an diese Energie abzugeben gestattet. Das mag auch bei Schwierigkeiten mit der Batterie der Fall sein, die es ratsam erscheinen lassen, praktisch alle elektrischen Verbraucher abzuschalten. In vielen Fällen mag der Fahrer aber einen "Mischbetrieb" zwischen Economy- und Komfortbetrieb vorziehen, bei dem er beispielsweise auf die Klimaanlage und die Sitzheizung verzichtet, nicht aber auf die Raumheizung.
