Abstract

In a sterilisation and disinfecting process employing steam, filter systems are employed which remove gas from the water. The filters are made from materials which are block, capillary or membrane filters of structured active carbon, ceramics, polysulphone, cellulose, or other materials having like physical, surface and electrostatic properties. A number of filters are assembled in parallel or series, to form a bank with comparable or similar effect. Further gas is removed from the water by warming and vacuum action. The resulting sterilised and decontaminated steam is used to sterilise and disinfect especially medical instruments and materials.
