Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a composition comprising a Mixture of various naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalene sulfonic acids, an aqueous formulation of this composition, a method of manufacture position of this composition and the aqueous formulation, and the Use of the composition or aqueous formulation for Skin pimples pimples.
As a rule, when the skin is stabilized before tanning Table salt in combination with inorganic or organic acids puts. In the case of inorganic acids, this is particularly sulfuric acid or Hydrochloric acid, especially formic acid for organic acids. Is at this process, which runs under the name "pimple", the cook added salt, there is an undesirable swelling of the skin, whereby z. B. the tensile strength of the skin is significantly deteriorated. This swelling of the skin is not only due to the addition of salt, but also prevented by certain organic, so-called non-swelling acids (see G.Otto, Das Leder, VIII, (1957), page 100 ff.). Not that swelling acids have the advantage, among other things, that the salt content in the Wastewater can be drastically reduced and thus the burden on the sewage treatment plant plants is reduced.
The best known non-swelling acid is currently β-naphthalene mono sulfonic acid used. The use of this sulfonic acid is justified on the one hand through their simple and therefore cheap technical production, on the other hand by the fact that this acid is independent of concentration does not cause swelling of the skin, while other aromatic sulfonic acids, especially the disulfonic acids of naphthalene to cause swelling skin (see H. Herfeld et al. Das Leder, XXVI, (1975), page 117 ff.). β-naphthalene-mono-sulfonic acid is usually sold as flake or block goods with different degrees of purity. Here there are considerable disadvantages in use, since these are naphthalene mono-sulfonic acid is very poorly water-soluble. A direct use in Tanning barrel is therefore not possible, rather a separate preliminary solution to the Naphthalene-mono-sulfonic acid can be made. Add to that this Sulfonic acid is hygroscopic and is therefore used for longer storage tends to stick. Another disadvantage of naphthalene mono-sulfonic acid is in that a concentrated aqueous solution thereof is not stable, but leads to undesired precipitation and sedimentation. Since ins special technical goods of naphthalene-mono-sulfonic acid a residual content of unsulfonated naphthalene leads to unpleasant odors both in processing in the tanning barrel and in the leather produced.
Since the pickled nakedness is usually followed by chrome tanning be subjected to a blunting process with soluble Contains magnesium salts, it occurs when using naphthalene mono sulfonic acids by the precipitation of magnesium salts of this sulfonic acid unwanted spots on the wet blue.
There was therefore an urgent need for a pimple remedy of skin bare that does not have the disadvantages described above. It it has now been found that through the use of mixtures of naphthalene mono-, di-, tri-sulfonic acids and optionally naphthalene-oligosulfonic acids the disadvantages of the prior art can be overcome.
One solution to the problem is therefore a composition for pimples Skin bare on the basis of naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalenesulfone acids, which is characterized in that they each have at least one naphtha lin- and / or alkylnaphthalene-monosulfonic acid, naphthalene and / or alkyl naphthalene-disulfonic acid and naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalene-tri-sulfone contains acid.
The statement that the composition each (because) at least one of the genan nten contains naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acids, means that at least one of the possible positionally isomeric sulfonic acids Representative is present.
In addition, the composition according to the invention can be a or several positionally isomeric naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalene oligosulfonic acid ren and contain sulfuric acid. Surprisingly, it did shown that in the composition according to the invention optionally ent Keeping free sulfuric acid does not cause the skin to swell. This is all the more remarkable than the composition according to the invention contains no alkali, ammonium or alkaline earth salts. The reason for this Appearance is unknown.
Naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalene oligosulfonic acids in the sense of this invention Description of the naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalenesulfonic acids, the more than 3 sulfonic acid groups per naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalene Have molecule.
In particular, the composition according to the invention contains 5 to 30% by weight, preferably 10 to 22% by weight of naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalene mono-sulfonic acid, 15 to 60% by weight, preferably 25 to 50% by weight Naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalene disulfonic acid and 10 to 55% by weight, preferably 18 to 45% by weight of naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalene tri sulfonic acid.
Die Summe der Mengen der zwingend und der gegebenenfalls vorhandenen Komponenten beträgt insgesamt 100 Gew.-%.The composition according to the invention can furthermore be 0 to 10, in particular 0 to 5% by weight of naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalene oligosulfonic acid and 0 to 25, preferably 5 to 20 wt .-% sulfuric acid. The Sum of the quantities of the mandatory and the possibly existing Components is a total of 100 wt .-%.
Alkylnaphthalenes which green the sulfonic acids used according to the invention deliegen, can carry 1 to 3 alkyl groups. The alkyl groups can be up to have up to 20 carbon atoms. It is advisable to choose the number of alkyl groups bonded to a naphthalene nucleus and their chain length so from that the sulfonic acid mixtures obtained are still perfectly water-soluble are. Usually this is the case when the number of carbon atoms is all alkyl groups bound to a naphthalene nucleus not more than 20, preferably wise is not over 10.
The sulfonic acids used according to the invention are preferably based on alkyl naphthalenes with C 1 to C 10 alkyl groups, in particular with C 1 to C 3 alkyl groups. Mono- and di-alkyl-substituted naphthalenes are also preferred as the basis for the sulfonic acids used according to the invention. The use of technically easily accessible alkylnaphthalenes is of course particularly advantageous.

The above-mentioned, the sulfonic acids to be used according to the invention horizontal alkyl naphthalenes can be used individually or as a mixture with one another or in a mixture with naphthalene. Accordingly, in the Sulphonic acid mixtures of naphthalene and / or single or more nuclei rer of various alkylnaphthalenes. Their shares essentially correspond the proportions of the components in those subjected to sulfonation (Alkyl) naphthalene mixtures.
From an economic point of view, it is particularly advantageous if Naph thalin and / or technically obtained mixtures of alkylnaphthalenes Forms the basis for the sulfonic acid mixtures to be used according to the invention.
Sulfonic acids and are particularly favorable for the use according to the invention Mixtures of sulfonic acids of naphthalene, 1-methylnaphthalene, 2-methylnaphthalene, 2,3-dimethylnaphthalene, 2,6-dimethylnaphthalene, 1-ethylnaphthalene and 2-ethylnaphthalene and mixtures thereof. Sulfones are particularly preferred acid mixtures of naphthalene and / or methylnaphthalenes, in particular Naphthalene-sulfonic acid mixtures of the above composition.
The composition according to the invention is used to simplify the process application by adding water to an aqueous formulation with a solid substance content of 10 to 50 wt .-% transferred. To modify the we kung or to adapt to special substrates of the formulation further if desired during pimple treatments and / or tanning usual auxiliaries and additives are added.
Such an aqueous formulation accordingly advantageously contains 10 to 50 % By weight of the composition according to the invention, 50 to 90% by weight Water and 0 to 10% by weight of conventional auxiliaries and additives, the Sum of the components is 100% by weight.
These aqueous formulations of the compositions according to the invention also Settlement are the subject of the present invention. They are, in contrast to aqueous solutions of pure naphthalene-mono-sulfonic acids, excellent stable in storage and especially cold. Compared to the solid naphthalene mono The aqueous formulations according to the invention have sulfonic acid Advantage of easier dosing; a solids handling with the above ge Disadvantages described are no longer necessary, and distribution problems in the tanning barrel due to poorly pre-dissolved naphthalene mono-sulfonic acid closed.
B. in H.Herfeld, Bibliothek des Leders, Band 3, Seite 141 ff.Usual auxiliaries and additives, some of which have a pimple effect Modifying closing tanning, or creating additional effects, are in the literature has been described, e.g. B. in H. Herfeld, library of leather, Volume 3, page 141 ff.
Examples of common auxiliaries and additives are in particular wetting agents, Defoamers, salts, especially table salt, preservatives, poly phosphates, dyes, odorants, but also, for example, aldehydes, preferably glutaraldehyde, as a blocking agent for basic skin substances, Aluminum salts and double salts with a slightly tanning effect, complex formers for masking disruptive heavy metal ions or bleach Sodium chlorite base.
The composition according to the invention can be prepared by reacting naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalenes with a sulfonating agent at elevated temperature. Conveniently, naphthalene and / or alkylnaphthalenes and the sulfonating agent are reacted in a molar ratio of 1: 1.5 to 1: 5, preferably 1: 2 to 1: 3.5, with an acceptable reaction rate and the desired degree of sulfonation at temperatures from 60 to 200 ° C can be reached. It is useful to work at a temperature below 100 ° C at the beginning of the sulfonation in order to avoid a violent reaction. After the initial reaction has subsided, the sulfonation is continued at above 100 ° C., preferably above 130 ° C., to the desired degree of sulfonation. SO 3 and / or sulfuric acid, in particular SO 3 in the form of oleum, is preferably used as the sulfonating agent. The process for the manufacture of the composition according to the invention is also the subject of the present invention.
The process for the preparation of an aqueous formulation for Pimples of nakedness, in which the composition according to the invention un indirectly after the production by adding water to an aqueous formulation formulation containing 10 to 50% by weight of the composition and 50 to 90 % By weight of water is the subject of the present invention.
Another object of the present invention is the use of The composition according to the invention described above and the resultant adjustable aqueous formulation for pimples of skin bones and the Process for pimples of skin bare using the Invention according composition and / or aqueous formulations.
In the pimple method according to the invention, the nakedness is covered with a aqueous pickle liquor, which is generally 1 to 20% by weight, preferably 2 to 10 wt .-%, based on the weight of the bare, of the invention contains composition, treated. The fleet can advantageously by appropriately diluting the aqueous formulation according to the invention can be made with water.
The pH of the liquor is adjusted during the pimple treatment of the nakedness, if necessary by adding pH regulators, e.g. B. acids, especially organic acids and / or buffer substances, such as alkaline earth oxides, alkali or alkaline earth hydroxides or alkali or alkaline earth salts of inorganic or organic acids, to a value of 0 to 10, preferably 0 to 5, in particular 3 to 4, set. Especially aliphatic C 1 to C 3 acids and / or their alkali or alkaline earth metal salts or alkaline earth metal oxides or hydroxides can be added, preferably in an amount of 0.01 to 5, in particular 0.05 to 1% by weight, based on the amount of liquor in order, for example, to adapt the proton activity to the known special requirements of the individual process steps.
The pimple method according to the invention has the particular advantage that it both at normal room temperature and at elevated temperatures, d. H. at temperatures of about 10 to 50 ° C, preferably in the range of 20 to 40 ° C, can be carried out even if one Chrome tanning should be connected. This option is special valuable and crucial for the use of a pimple in countries with warm river water and without cooling on Barrel must be worked.
The duration of the pimple treatment varies depending on the nature of the be acting nakedness and the desired effect. It usually lies between 5 and 200 minutes, preferably between 20 and 120 minutes.
If necessary, the pimple method according to the invention can also be used Analogous to known methods modified in its effect, or at certain special substrates can be customized by using the pickling liquor the above-mentioned usual additives and / or auxiliaries, especially z. B. Wetting agents, defoamers, salts, preservatives, colors and smells substances aluminum salts and double salts, complexing agents or the above ge called buffer substances, especially organic acids.
Another completely unpredictable advantage of using the fiction moderate composition results from the fact that it contains chrome tanning agents can be combined directly: B. a fully decalcified skin in a slightly warmed liquor of the composition according to the invention be pretreated for a short time and then the pimple fleet directly Chrome tanning agent is added and the chrome tanning is carried out. The Penetration of the composition according to the invention into the skin and the resulting stabilization of the skin takes place so quickly that it is easy to add the chrome tanning agent. In the Pimple treatment and subsequent tanning is not skin hydrolysis ascertain.
einzusparen.Surprisingly, other advantages were found:
The disadvantageous, unpleasant smell of naphthalene does not occur either during processing or on the pickled nakedness. The pimple pH is about 0.2 to 0.4 units below the corresponding values for pure naphthalene-monosulfonic acid. This results in the possibility of using less pickling acid in the tanning drum and thus saving on chemical costs.
For a pimple with the composition according to the invention and one subsequent chrome tanning and dulling with magnesium salts which the unwanted stains on the wet blue no longer observed. Comparative experiments show that when using the inventive together The wet blue color is much clearer and more brilliant than the Use of naphthalene-mono-sulfonic acid as a pimple substance. Will they be with a composition prepared according to the invention Subject to standard retanning and staining, so it is surprising so that the leather obtained is much fuller and softer than Comparative material that is conventionally treated with a commercial pimple has been. In addition, the coloring is much more level and brilliant.

232 g 24%iges Oleum (entspr. Anschließend wird der Ansatz auf 165°C erhitzt und 4 Stunden bei dieser Temperatur gehalten.232 g of 24% oleum (corresponding to 2.5 mol of SO 3 ) are placed in a flask and heated to 80 ° C. Then 128 g (1 mol) of melted naphthalene are added dropwise at 80 to 85 ° C. with stirring. The mixture is then heated to 165 ° C. and kept at this temperature for 4 hours.
This gives 325 g of a composition according to the invention, which for Determination of the proportions of the components is analyzed. The analyti cal determination of the individual sulfonic acids in the sulfonic acid mixture difficult; the analysis values are therefore subject to a certain error and are therefore only given in the following as "approximate values".
Die erhaltene Zusammensetzung besteht aus:
The composition obtained consists of:
ca. 13 Gew.-% Naphthalin-mono-sulfonsäure,
ca. 41 Gew.-% Naphthalin-di-sulfonsäure,
ca. 31 Gew.-% Naphthalin-tri-sulfonsäure,
ca. 4 Gew.-% Naphthalin-oligo-sulfonsäuren und
ca. 11 Gew.-% Schwefelsäure.approx. 13% by weight of naphthalene monosulfonic acid,
approx. 41% by weight of naphthalene-disulfonic acid,
approx. 31% by weight of naphthalene-tri-sulfonic acid,
approx. 4% by weight of naphthalene-oligo-sulfonic acids and
approx. 11% by weight sulfuric acid.
The product contains less than 0.05% by weight unsulfonated naphthalene.
The still warm composition is mixed with 500 ml of water to the full mixed homogenization. An approx. 40% aqueous formulation of the composition according to the invention. The formulation thus prepared can be used to conveniently manufacture the pimples brisk are used. It is characterized by excellent storage stability and frost resistance.
All percentages by weight in the following application examples and the Comparative examples relate to the weight of the treated nakedness.
A decalcified pale skin is washed with 200% water by weight at 25 ° C for 10 minutes washed. A pickle liquor is made by diluting 6.25 % By weight of the aqueous formulation of Example 1B with 44% by weight of what ser. The amount of the liquor thus obtained is 50% by weight of the bulk weight; it contains 2.5 wt .-% of the composition of the invention Example 1A, corresponding to approximately 2.2% by weight of naphthalene-sulfonic acid mixture.
Danach beträgt der pH-Wert der Flotte 3,7.In this pimple fleet, the nakedness is drummed for 60 minutes at 25 ° C. Of the The pH of the liquor is then 4.0. 0.5% by weight is added to the liquor an 85% by weight formic acid solution in water and sets the pimples treatment for another 60 minutes. After that, the pH is Fleet 3.7.
The pickled nakedness thus obtained can now be subjected to chrome tanning will.
For this purpose, the fleet is treated with 6% by weight of a commercially available chrome tanning agent added and the pelts treated for 90 minutes at room temperature (25 ° C). The liquor is then brought to pH 3.7 with magnesium oxide and continues treatment overnight. The wet blue are on Bock stored, weaned and inspected. You have a clear, brilliant Color, a good fullness and have no magnesium salt precipitations caused stains. The retanning and coloring of the thus produced wet blue with commercially available products and corresponding recipes results in very round, full, soft leather with remarkably good dyeability.
Example 2 is repeated with the difference that instead of composition according to the invention 2.2 wt .-% of a commercially available Naphthalene-mono-sulfonic acid is used. After walking for 60 minutes the pH of the pickling liquor is 4.4. Compared to example 2 is the speed of the pimple process in the skin is much slower. The chrome tanning subsequently carried out as in Example 2 gave a wet blue with strong stains and a less brilliant color.
The retanning and coloring of the wet blue thus produced by trade conventional products and corresponding recipes compared to the wet blue obtained in Example 2 is less full, less brilliant dyed leather.
An uncleaved, completely decalcified pale is with 200 wt .-% water washed at 32 ° C and then in a mixture of 2.5 wt .-% of aqueous formulation of Example 1B, diluted five times Tumbled water at 32 ° C for 10 minutes. Then the liquor is 1% by weight a commercial chrome tanning agent added and drummed for 60 minutes. Then 5% by weight of the chrome tanning agent is added and walked for another 120 minutes. Then the fleet is added by Magnesium oxide dulled to a pH of 3.7 and after adding 60 % By weight of water was tumbled at 40 ° C. for a further 8 hours.
The wet blue obtained are stored on trestle. They don't show a source signs of hydrolysis and skin and optimal, balanced Chrome distribution over the cross section.
