Die bisherigen Versuche, Mörtelmischungen von Sand und Zement oder hydraulischen Kalk trocken in den Handel zu bringen, sind daran gescheitert, daß die geringe Feuchtigkeif des Sandes ausreichte, das Abbinden des hydraulischen Bindemittels einzuleiten und zur Klumpenbildung Veranlassung zu geben. Der Erfinder verwendet, um diesen Übelstand zu vermeiden, statt des Sandes ein Gemisch von Sand und gebranntem Weißkalk. Letzterer hat bekanntlich die Eigenschaft, Feuchtigkeit schnell anzuziehen und festzuhalten. Ein Gemisch von Sand mit Kalk und Zement zeigt die gleiche Lagerhaftigkeit wie reiner Zement. Das gleiche trifft zu bei dem Ersatz von Zement durch hydraulischen Kalk oder beim Ersatz des Sandes durch Steingries oder Steinmehl. Enthält der hydraulische Kalk freien Ätzkalk, so kann der hydraulische Kalk unmittelbar mit Sand gemischt werden. Der freie Ätzkalk zieht das Wasser schleunigst an und entzieht dieses der Einwirkung auf den eigentlichen hydraulischen Kalk. Der Gehalt an Ätzkalk wird so gewählt, daß nicht nur das vorhandene Wasser gebunden ist, sondern daß noch ein Überschuß an Ätzkalk vorhanden ist, welcher verhindert, daß die Luftfeuchtigkeit nachteilig auf den Zement wirkt. In den Rahmen der Erfindung fällt auch der Zusatz von gemahlenem gebrannten Kalk zu Portlandzement und Romanzement, um diese vor Aufnahme von Feuchtigkeit während des Lagerns zu schützen.
