Es kommt bekanntlich bei Petroleumblaubrennern sehr darauf an, daß der Docht beim Brennen um ein genau bestimmtes Maß über die Dochtscheide hervortritt, da sonst eine reine, geruchlose und nicht rußende Flamme nicht zu erzielen ist. Die richtige Dochtstellung ist aber mit Hilfe der Dochtschraube um so weniger leicht zu treffen, als nach dem Anzünden nicht sogleich der Beharrungszustand eintritt, so daß der Docht gewöhnlich von vornherein zu weit hochgeschraubt wird. Da die hier behandelten Verhältnisse besonders auch für die Petroleumglühlichtbeleuchtung sehr bedeutsam sind, so sind schon Vorrichtungen vorgeschlagen worden, welche ein gewissermaßen mechanisches, dem persönlichen Gutdünken entzogenes Einstellen des Dochtes bewirken sollen, indem am Dochttrieb Marken angebracht sind, welche der mit der Dochtscheide bündigen, dem Putzen dienenden Stellung des Dochtes und seiner Brennstellung entsprechen.As is well known, with petroleum blue burners it is very important that the wick protrudes beyond the wick sheath when burning, otherwise a clean, odorless and non-sooting flame cannot be achieved.
