Description
The invention relates to a connection and / or coupling tion element of a sensor, in particular for loading adjustment of the oxygen content in exhaust gases from Ver internal combustion engines, with those in the preamble of An Proverb 1 mentioned features.
It is known the oxygen content in exhaust gases from Internal combustion engines with electrochemical measuring learn to determine. This is a fixed electric Sensor element having a lyt body in a housing used airtight. The solid electrolyte body is between two electrodes arranged, a first Electrode the sample gas and a second electrode egg a reference gas, for example the air atmosphere, is exposed. Depending on the oxygen con difference in the concentration of the sample gas and the The electrode exposed to the reference gas lies between the a voltage signal. To evaluate the chip voltage signal are the electrodes via electrical Ver Binding lines led out of the sensor and with an evaluation unit, for example one electronic control unit of a motor vehicle, ver prevented. Because between the installation location of the sensor and the evaluation unit usually a longer way range, it is known to use a sensor To provide connection element that over a lengthening cable can be connected to the evaluation unit.
So that the sensor element against external influences, for example splash water or the like, protected the electrical connection lines are through a seal removed from the sample gas, which the housing, in which the sensor element is arranged seals. The electrical connector led out of the housing extension lines are then with the connection and / or Coupling element contacted. In addition, it is be knows the electrical connection lines between the housing and the connection and / or coupling element with an additional protective tube to umman stuffs.
To supply the exposed to the reference gas ten electrodes of the sensor element, it is known electrical connection lines to be executed flexibly ren, causing a leak in the electrical connector cables in the longitudinal direction for the approach the reference gas is used. With the known Th arrangements is disadvantageous that the reference gas a rela tiv must travel a long way until a supply the chamber of the meas is possible with fresh reference gas. Since the Connection and / or coupling elements with the ent speaking counter elements hermetically sealed supply of the reference gas only via the remote evaluation unit possible. In addition, it is disadvantageous that the Connection and / or coupling element and the Refe existing chamber of the sensor Reference gas from a significant temperature rise is set. Because of this large temperature swan expansion or expansion a contraction of the air volume depending on Temperature conditions so that the reference gas over the entire length of the electrical connection is drained or sucked in. here through are sources of error in a regulated supplier the reference chamber with reference gas is possible.
The connection and / or coupling according to the invention lungselement with the mentioned in claim 1 painting offers the advantage that in simple Long supply routes for fresh reef can be avoided. At the same time however ensures that the entry of the reference Ga it is decoupled from the locations, the surrounding area rivers, for example splashing water. Dar moreover, it is very advantageously possible due to Volume changes occurring in temperature fluctuations of the reference gas in a simple manner Chen and thus a safe function of the inventions appropriate connection and / or coupling element ensure the measuring sensor. As a result of that the connection and / or coupling element at least forms an area that allows gas exchange between rule an interior of the connection and / or coupling lungs element and the environment allowed, it is partially possible due to temperature swan pressure fluctuations of the Refe limit gas and a short supply the availability of fresh reef to ensure reference gas.
Advantageous refinements of the invention result derive from the note mentioned in the subclaims to paint.
Es zeigen:The invention is described in the following play closer with the accompanying drawings purifies. Show it:

Fig. 2 is a schematic sectional view through egg ne arrangement of a sensor with an inventive coupling element.
Fig. 1 shows a connection element 10 of an electrochemical sensor, not shown here. The electro-chemical sensor is connected to the connecting element 10 via electrical connecting lines 12 . In a conventional configuration of an electrochemical sensor's, a total of four connecting lines 12 are provided, two of which are used for the electrical contacting of a measuring electrode and a reference electrode and two for the electrical contacting of a heating source of the sensor. The electrical connecting lines 12 are flexible lines which are provided with an insulation 14 . The connecting element 10 has a housing 15 which forms an interior 16 , in which the connecting lines 12 are guided. To seal the interior 16 and the connec tion lines 12 , the connecting element 10 has a sensor-side seal 18 . The seal 18 be sits bushings 20 for the connecting lines 12 , the insulation 14 of the connecting lines 12 in the passage 20 is airtight on the seal 18 . The seal 18 thus provides a metallic seal of the interior 16 .
The connecting lines 12 are electrically conductively connected to a contact element 22 . For this purpose, the contact elements 22 each have a fastening section 24 by means of which an electrical contacting of the connecting lines 12 takes place. Be the fastening sections 24 protrude into the interior 16 of the housing 15 . The contact elements 22 also have a contact section 26 , by means of which an electrically conductive connection to an evaluation unit for the signals supplied by the sensor is possible. Here, the evaluation unit can be connected directly via the connection element 10 or via an extension, not shown. The Kontaktele elements 22 are held by a seal 28 which, in addition to locking the contact elements 22, ensures a hermetic seal of the interior 16 .
The housing 15 has in the region of the interior 16 at least one opening 30 which is closed by a membrane element 32 Mem. The Membrane element 32 has a holding element 34 , which is firmly inserted into the opening 30 of the housing 15 . A connection between the housing 15 and the holding element 34 can be, for example, a screw connection, adhesive connection, welded connection or another suitable connection. The holding element 34 holds a membrane 36 . The membrane 36 consists of a gas-permeable but liquid-impermeable material. Via the membrane 36 is therefore an Gasver connection between the interior 16 of the housing 15 and the environment of the connecting element 10 is possible. Due to the liquid impermeability, moisture penetration into the interior 16 is prevented. The membrane 36 consists for example of a porous Teflon material.
The arrangement of the membrane 36 ensures that a reference gas, usually the atmospheric oxygen, can be supplied to the sensor over a short distance via the interior 16 and the electrical connection lines 12 . In addition, a pressure equalization takes place between the inner space 16 and the vicinity of the connecting element 10 via the membrane 36 . In the event of heating of the connecting element 10 and / or the sensor (not shown), the increase in volume associated with the heating of the reference gas in the interior 16, or in the reference chamber of the sensor, reference gas via the membrane 36 can be built. On the other hand, when the connecting element 10 and / or the sensor cools, a contraction of the volume of the reference gas via the membrane 36 can be compensated for. Overall, stable conditions for the reference gas are thus achieved, so that an essentially uniform provision of the reference gas for the sensor is guaranteed at all times.
In Fig. 2, another embodiment is shown ge, in which a sensor 38 element 40 is connected to a connector 42 via a Verbindungsele element. The same parts as in Fig. 1 are provided with the same reference numerals despite a partially different structure and are not explained again.
The sensor 38 has a sensor element 46 which is arranged in a metallic housing 44 and is connected to the coupling element 40 via the electrical connecting lines 12 . The connecting lines 12 are guided in a jacket tube 48 , which serves an additional mechanical and / or thermal protection of the connecting lines 12 . The casing tube 48 is tightly connected to the housing 44 , for example via a welded connection.
The coupling element 40 has a housing 15 within which the interior 16 is formed. Inner half of the interior 16 , the electrical connec tion lines 12 of the sensor 38 with other, leading to the connector 42 leading Verbindungsleitun gene 50 electrically contacted. Both the United connecting lines 12 and the jacket tube 48 as well as the connecting lines 50 are sealingly guided into the interior 16 through the housing 15 . The connector 42 is used to contact the sensor 38 with an evaluation unit, not shown.
The housing 15 in turn has at least one opening 30 into which the membrane element 32 is inserted.
The mode of operation of the membrane element 32 corresponds to the mode of operation already explained for FIG. 1. In the embodiment shown in FIG. 2, a reference gas connection between the sensor element 38 and the interior 16 of the coupling element 40 is carried out via the interior of the jacket tube 48 and / or the longitudinal leaks of the connecting lines 12 . By means of the membrane 36 fresh reference gas can in turn be made available without this having to be led through the longitudinal leaks of the connecting lines 50 . Furthermore, the explained volume compensation with temperature fluctuations of the reference gas is already possible.
