Zum Konservieren von Früchten, Marmeladen u. dgl. sind seit langem Vorratsgefäße, insbesondere aus Glas bekannt, die durch eine flexible Abdeckung, allgemein als Einsiedehaut bezeichnet, verschlossen werden. Die Konservierung des Füllgutes geht dabei so vor sich, daß die Früchte od.dgl, nach einer entsprechenden Vorbehandlung heiß in das Gefäß eingefüllt werden und anschließend die Abdeckung, eventuell nachdem sie befeuchtet wurde, über die Öffnung des Gefäßes gezogen und die überstehenden Ränder mittels eines das Gefäß umschlingenden Bandes am Gefäß gehaltert werden.
