Eine zufriedenstellende Standzeit konnte aber trotzdem nur dann erreicht werden wenn ein regelmäßiger, sorgfältiger Abschmierdienst vorgenommen wurde. Deshalb wurden Vorschläge gemacht durch welche der Abschmierdienst überflüssig wurde. Im Prinzig wurde dabei die Stahl-Lagerschale durch eine solche aus Kunststoff ersetzt um Elastizität und gewisse Schmiereigenschaften des Kunststoffs auszunützen.
