Papiers oder anderen Bildträgers.Paper or other image carrier.
Solche Papiere haben den Nachteil, daß durch die aufgetragene Schicht die Beschaffenheit derFor the production of photographic reproductions by projecting the negative on light-sensitive layers, such as those used especially for enlargements and reductions takes place, one has so far mostly used papers, their light-sensitive layer gelatin or the like as a binder. Such papers have the disadvantage that by the applied layer the nature of the
sollen zwar zum Ausmalen geeignet sein, sie erfüllen diesen Zweck aber nur unvollkommen.ίο paper surface is changed considerably and that as a result, the copies obtained cannot be painted with a wide variety of colors, especially watercolors.
The same applies to papers which are coated with a bromide-silver starch emulsion (patent 83049) and which come on the market for enlargement purposes. These papers are supposed to be suitable for coloring, but they only serve this purpose imperfectly.
For example, watercolors are immediately retained by the layer, thereby reducing the further Editing is made more difficult. Pastel colors do not adhere well to the paper. With oil paints it cannot be painted over well, as the layer tears easily when the paint dries and peeling.
Other image carriers treated according to patent specification 83049 behave similarly, such as Canvas, etc. The possibility of retouching and painting is however for the The purposes mentioned are absolutely necessary, and it was therefore a question of being a light-sensitive To produce paper that is suitable for various drawing and painting purposes without affecting the nature of its surface has changed significantly.
Photosensitive papers in which the surface through which to achieve this Property required treatment does not suffer any change, are known; it However, this is exclusively about less light-sensitive, namely so-called copy paper, while only papers of high light sensitivity can be used for the above-mentioned purposes of enlargement or the like, which are subjected to a development process after exposure (development papers).
The problem to be solved was to establish the photosensitivity in such a way that that without applying a special layer to the paper surface the paper has been made highly photosensitive in a uniform manner in such a way that the light-sensitive substances adhere sufficiently to the paper.
It has now been found that the essential condition for solving this problem Is the choice of a suitable binder that, without affecting the surface properties of the pa-

Als derartiges Bindemittel haben sich die Lösungen erwiesen, die man erhält, wenn manThe solutions obtained when one has proven to be such a binder
Als ein besonders geeignetes Ausgangsmaterial hat sich hierbei der Leinsamen erwiesen, der beim Kochen mit Säuren, und zwar insbesondere mit verdünnter Schwefelsäure, eine derartige Lösung liefert.ίο flaxseed, tragacanth or gelatin with water and acids, such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, acetic acid and the like, heated so far that not . a thick, slimy mass, as it is probably used to apply light-sensitive layers has been used, but a thin liquid, well nitratable solution, which does not frozen again. Flaxseed has proven to be a particularly suitable starting material proven to be harmful to cooking with acids, in particular with dilute sulfuric acid, provides such a solution.
Similar solutions of gelatine, which has lost its ability to solidify due to boiling (Metagelatine), have already been used for the production of light-sensitive layers. However, it is only a question of influencing the levels that can be achieved with chlorine silver emulsion papers Shades of color traded, and it was by no means to be foreseen that if such were used Glue substances in contrast to the treated image carrier in terms of its surface properties to the effect of other procedures are not changed, but rather its properties of retouching and painting.
Nor was it to be expected that sulfuric acid would give a particularly useful result. This is because their use must appear questionable a priori, since it is known that the presence of sulfuric acid in light-sensitive layers has a very significant adverse effect on the light-sensitivity. However, this risk can be prevented by adding alkaline substances. Disodium phosphate (common phosphoric acid sodium) has proven to be particularly suitable for this purpose, since it has been found that the introduction of phosphoric acid has a favorable influence on the properties of the photosensitive layer obtained. Namely, not only increases the sensitivity to light, but the color of the obtained copies is shifted from brown to black, while otherwise of 1 silver phosphate has just announced that it provides brown tones. The solution can expediently also be mixed with milk sugar, whereby a better distribution of the substances is achieved through more even penetration into the paper fiber. The so composed and filtered solution is mixed with a solution of potassium bromide and: potassium iodide or other halogen salts suitable for the individual case; the paper intended for use is then coated with this mixture. If such paper is sharply dried, it will last for a long time and after treatment with silver salt solution it can be used for making copies.
Mit dieser Lösung wird das Papier bestrichen und darauf scharf getrocknet.50 g of flaxseed with 1000 ecm cold Water with the addition of 4 ecm of concentrated sulfuric acid and stirred until boiling heated, creating a thin liquid solution. 15 to 20 g of phosphoric acid are then added Add baking soda and 100 g lactose and filter the solution. The filtrate is mixed with a solution of 20 g of potassium bromide and 40 g of potassium iodide and the whole thing brought to 2500 ecm with water. With this solution the paper is coated and on it sharply dried.
The actual sensitization of the paper treated as described takes place first immediately before use with the usual means, e.g. B. with one with nitric acid coated solution of silver nitrate. The photosensitive Paper is used directly to make the copies.
The copy obtainable on exposure is then developed with acidic developers. '
Instead of paper, other image carriers can also be used.
. . ■The paper, etc. obtained by the present process fully satisfies these conditions outlined at the beginning. It can be done with watercolors in exactly the same way Worked in the same way as on the original, non-photosensitive material. For example watercolors can be easily washed off. Pastel colors also adhere well to the one treated according to the present process Material. Likewise, when using oil paints, there is no cracking or peeling when drying, since the oil paint with the Paper fiber directly enters into an intimate connection. . . ■
